Best cooler for the price!
For <$40, I don't think you can get a better cooler than this. Before you buy - it's fairly large but the interior dimensions are considerably smaller because the walls are thick. It still holds a lot of stuff, just be aware that the interior is smaller than it seems. My husband and I used this on a 3-week camping trip. We used it exclusively for food (so we didn't use it as a beer cooler with people opening it every 15 minutes). We just opened it to get out food and put food back in for meals. So I think that contributed to the long life span of the ice inside, which lasted a whopping 4 days when we were camping in the MOJAVE DESERT and had to leave the cooler in the car the entire time because of wildlife. We were quite impressed there was any ice at all left after 90 degree days and probably 110 degrees or more in the car. We actually still had remnants left from a bag of ice that we bought more than a week earlier. The only downside I noticed is the screws came loose on the hinges that hold the lid on, and we can't seem to get them screwed back in because it's all made of plastic. So, I think the lid hinge may be a weak point - luckily it does not affect the ability of the lid to seal.

COOLER than yours ;)
Great cooler - large, sturdy and keeps ice for a long time. We recently lost a fridge and had to keep our food in here for a few weeks while we fixed the fridge. This kept all our food perfect and we only had to use one bag of ice per day.Only nuance is that you have to purposefully shut the lid or it won’t seal, but I think this is by design so that when it does shut, it seals air right.I personally like that it doesn’t have wheels, I find that those get flimsy on larger models (due to more weight in the cooler?)Very pleased with this purchase. This is a great camping cooler.

Solid cooler, great performance
Bought this cooler for weekend camping excursions, BBQs and kayaking. Took it out camping this weekend and it performed better than expected. I put a large frozen bottle of gatorade in first then all of my drinks then filled in with a 10lb bag of ice and placed the food on top. After a full weekend on the beach the gatorade was still frozen solid and there was very little ice melted. It is also adequately sized to strap to the back of my kayak to keep my catch on ice while I'm on the water all day. Just really need to make sure I clean it well between uses or else my bbq might start smelling like fish...

Great product at a great price
I find this a very good ice chest. For the cost I think it is excellent. You also don’t have to worry about it having a huge name brand plastered on the side of it. No one’s gonna wanna steal this out of your pick up truck. No seriously, it’s a great choice

5-day cooler for the budget buyer
I'll keep this short and to the point:I just purchased this cooler and tested it out on a 3 day trip. I cooled it down ahead of time with a gallon jug of ice and then removed it, since it was mostly melted. Then put in a half gallon bottle of ice with 2 Blue Ice thingies and a 5 lb. bag of ice for the top just before the trip. This kept some frozen chicken, ground beef, 8 cans of soda and some other small items cold. After a day the meat was still frozen. On the 3rd day it was defrosted. During the trip I had to pull the meat out and thaw out before cooking. Drinks were still frosty cold on the 3rd day. The ice didn't melt enough to bother with draining any water until leaving for home. After getting home, the ice was still 75% intact, the Blue Ice was still mostly frozen as well as the half gallon of ice. The meat had finally defrosted. We didn't open the cooler much, just around meal times. The cooler also spent a few hours in the back of the hot car.So when it comes to keeping things cold, it does a great job. The drain at the bottom is handy. I only used it before loading it back in the car to keep the weight down. But one thing--- No latch?? Now that doesn't make sense.Bottom line: it keeps your stuff cold well enough to compete with the expensive coolers, only you spend a lot less and you give up the durability and security features. Since I don't plan on running over my cooler with an ATV or letting a bear play with it, I can live with that.

best 36qt. cooler ever made.
I bought one of these about five years ago, and buying a replacement here cause as always, Amazon is the cheapest. This particular size cooler is perfect for a canoe, the low height is right at the center thwart of most canoes. The one I had finally got a crack in it after five years of hard use, about 100 days/yr. in the South Florida marine world. It had a GPS mount screwed to the lid and seat belt hinges. This cooler will, no bs, keep a case of beer and two paddlers happy, sippin' on cold ones for three days in 90 degree heat. You get the five days ice deal on winter trips on the Suwannee. It is definitely a cut above the others at a similar price.

minor flaw
The hinges are simply folded plastic and it is clear they will have a very short half-life. I'm hoping there are replacement hinges available that are designed for repetitive, vigourous use.The actual dimensions of the unit make it easy for one person to carry if the load is light. Because of the capacity, it is easy to develop a heavy load that requires two individuals. Again, carrying is convenient.I used two of these coolers to transport a load of beef in mid May. The frozen beef was loaded on a Monday morning and it was Tuesday afternoon before it was transferred to a freezer. No ice or other coolants were added to the Coleman. There was no evidence of thawing.Replace the hinges and this is a 5 star unit.
