UPDATE - I have had this series 7 razor for many years now, and have always been happy with these new heads. But I just bought another (August 2024) and it is awful. It looks ok, but if I don't shave for a couple of days (which I do often), the new blade is terrible on a heavy stubble, it feels like it is plucking the hairs out rather than cutting them, really painful. Down to 1 star for me, I am going to have to seriously look at replacing the razor with a different one.FURTHER UPDATE June 2025: after months of emails and sharing photos with Braun, they have confirmed that the cutter I was having problems with IS A FAKE. It can be seen in the photo I now attach that the OLD one has springs on the blades, holding them tight against the foil. The NEW one doesn't have these, and this is why it snags and pulls the hairs so badly rather than cutting cleanly. Once I told Amazon about this they refunded me immediately. I noticed that although this has been "shipped from" Amazon, it was "sold by" a seller. I just bought another and made sure to choose "sold by" Amazon, and this is fine. So if you are having problems like I did, you probably have a fake too.My original review follows:I'm in my 50s now, and my Braun series 7 razor is the best razor I've ever owned. It's about 2 years old now, so I figured it was time to splash out on a new blade for it. I was a bit put out that it's an all in one unit now, previous razors I've owned allowed blades and foil to be replaced separately. But it's a minor niggle really. Anyway, my razor was still giving a very good shave, but with the new head it's just like new again. You don't notice the gradual decline in shaving performance over time, until you renew it. Definitely worth it.

......if not a little pricey but once you have the shaver then to maintain an acceptable standard of cut, you've to have replace the cutter cassette every so often, it's as simple ass that, and there doesn't seem to be an overabundance of places to go to shop around for price.And the spare parts business has always had the reputation of being a bit of a cash cow for manufacturers and their agents. When Mini cars were selling for £499 ("before my time" I hear many of you say)a television programme carried out an investigation into the 'spare part' industry and purchased an entire 'Mini' by way of spare parts from Austin Dealers and the bill came to over £12000 pounds more than 24 times the cost of an assembled one!Be that as it may unless Statutory Regulations are enacted to control spare part pricing there is nowt can be done about it, so back to this product in summary, a quality item, extremely easy to fit, gets your shave back to a new shaver standard but at a cost.

I replaced mine after 16 months and the warning message hadn't appeared at that point.It is hard to tell but the performance of the new shaving head does appear to be slightly better than the one I took off. Obviously it needs time to bed-in a bit but it feels a bit closer and slightly less tugging so more comfortable.The fact that it is so close to the worn out blade is actually a good selling point for these heads and this model of shaver. Previous cheaper Remington Shavers that I owned had noticeably deteriorated after six months and I actually found it essential to replace the foil and cutter at the six month point. Even with a new foil and cutter they weren't close to my Braun.These Braun heads represent great value given that I could have easily got the full 18 months out of it with no noticeable degradation in shave quality. The Braun heads work out far cheaper in the long run than buying the lower priced Remington foil/cutter every six months.Should add that I use mine every day and I do put it on a full cleaning cycle every day so it is always nicely lubricated. I guess someone who only uses the cleaning function once every few days to save money on cleaning fluids might get a shorter life and greater wear rates.Anyway I have just ordered another head as I always like to have a spare in my drawer in case I drop the shaver and damage the foil or something.

At last a genuine brain shaver cassette.Too many fakes around now.

Gratbyiu can keep the shaver but buying these every 18 months. My best ever shaver keeps going because of the replacement heads. An absolutely stunning product, easy to clean, comfortable shave. Well worth the money.

I bought my Braun razor series 7 --- 2 years ago. The thing is the cutting blades they wear out so slowly so i didn't realise over the last 6 months it was taking longer to shave each time. Then without realising i am pushing the razor to my chin harder and harder. Well this week it was getting very sore and pulling my whiskers so i couldn't use it. I started looking for a new razor and my razor cost over £200 so i didn't want that cost again so i was looking around for alternatives but couldn't find any as good.Then i saw this head replacement and thought lets try it and when i changed the head to the new one well i couldn't believe it. It was brilliant it shaved my weeks beard off no problems in under 5 minutes leaving the closest shave i have had for ages.A huge fat 5 stars for this as its like i have bought a brand new razor again. I am so pleased.There are other cheaper makes of this but i don't know what they are like but i can confirm this one is brilliant and its just like i have replaced my old shaver with the same model but brand new. But it is an original Braun replacement so it should be.Changing over the head was very easy its the same as when you take the head off and replace afterwards when you clean the razor, so easy.I shall be changing this again in 18 months time its worth it.
