Short best-before date, but that isn’t the use by date. I use a Panasonic bread machine and found this flour makes an excellent loaf.My ‘secret’ recipe is: 4oz of spelt flour + the Gilchesters making a total of 1lb 1oz.1/2 tsp of Allinson easy-bake yeast, which I put in the pan before adding the flour.2 tsp of Himalayan pink salt.350ml of water.2 tbs of extra virgin oo.1 x 500mg H&B vitamin C with Rose Hips tablet, crushed.Use the wholemeal setting on your machine = 5 hours on mine.

This is the real thing! Its organic, heritage wheat grain, stone ground... everything I could want. I make all my own bread, pastry, etc, and its good to know that not only are we eating nutritious food, but we're also supporting traditional farming and processing. Packed in sensible quantities for family use.I shall continue to buy this flour as long as it's available to do so!

To make real bread as opposed to rubbish that is passed a bread use this until the authorities pass a law that stops independent producers making proper flour. which of course they will!!!

This is by far the best wholewheat flour I have ever had. So far I have made cheese scones, sultana scones, bread, toad in the hole and dropped scones with great results.

I am very disappointed with this purchase! The flour seems old or is not very strong and therefore unsuitable for bread making machines! All my efforts to bake a loaf have been fruitless. The bread has, every time, not risen. Disappointing and a waste of money!
