Great coffee maker with a few dribbles
It is very hard to choose a coffee maker that you will be happy with, and produces good tasting coffee. Here is my two cents on the Mr. Coffee DWX23 coffee maker.Easy to read blue LED clock and blue LED power indicator.Easy to set the time and program.Brews 10 cups in about 12 minutes.Water temperature going into the grounds is around 192 degrees, which is better than most coffee makers out there.Easy to read water reservoir.Decanter does not drip or dribble (at least mine did not). The warming plate is non-stick and keeps the brewed coffee hot (around 180 degrees) for 2 hours. The real only complaint I can think of is when you leave the lid closed after brewing, and you go to make another pot of coffee in the morning, once you open the lid, not all of the water will end up in the reservoir. Some will dribble down the back of the coffee maker. I have seen this design flaw in most coffee makers out there, and is usually a make or break decision with me.The best selling point I can make about this coffee maker, is the water temperature. After a year in service, the water temperature is still a constant 192 degrees. Most commercial and industrial coffee makers will push water out at 200 degrees, so this is a very close competitor as far as the flavor of the coffee being brewed. I am very picky about coffee flavor, so this coffee maker does a great job for flavor and warmth.Cleaning is a cinch. Just run 1/4 cup of white vinagar to 12 cups of cold water, followed by 3 more 12 cup brews of cold water once a month and you are in for great tasting coffee with the Mr. Coffee DWX23 coffee maker.

It's a winner!
I've had many a coffee maker, from $30 range and up. All seem to last approx 1 - 2 years including this one. For the price, that's fine with me. The black color hides coffee staining. There are a couple of versions of this one and I prefer this one over the other because of button placement and grind basket being easy to remove/replace. Very user friendly! Fav features: Auto start, sneak a cup, Flat bottom basket that is easily removable for grind tossing. Water window.

There's an upgraded model but this is the one you want
Again, exactly as advertised. I'm one of those 24/7 caffeine nuts and I'd been using one of those miniature Mr Coffees for a few years since I live alone. It was ok during the week when I only need to brew one cup on my way to work but on weekends, I was constantly replacing filters and refilling the hopper to make another cup. Finally decided to get a full-size pot and, as usual, I did a lot of research first. Most were too expensive and/or had extra unnecessary features. I knew I definitely didn't want a k-cup or a $400+ beast. I just wanted something fairly simple that makes a decent cup of coffee but I also liked the idea of setting it up at night and having fresh coffee when I wake up. I know there are tons of models out there that do this but this one had the right price and was user-friendly out of the box. Simple, inexpensive and brews that perfect cup o' java every time :)

Very nice coffeemaker, love the blue light and clock on ...Sorry to say this, but order something else, ours only lasted 8 mos!
Very nice coffeemaker, love the blue light and clock on the front. Worked well after following the cleaning instructions and we enjoyed a hot cup of coffee right away. Usually I have to heat my coffee in the Microwave after adding my Creamer but didn't need to do this as the coffee comes out steaming hot like it should after brewing. A+ for a good cup of coffee.7 months later........ Changed my opinion about this Coffeemaker as two days ago it began making gurgling sounds and turned my added water into hot steam and only made 5 out of the twelve cups of coffee it was supposed to. Everything is all steam and it now takes about 2 hours to brew just a few cups of coffee. So..... I just finished ordering a different Mr. Coffee maker that uses the same Caraffe and hope that the next coffee maker lasts longer than just 8 months. We tried everything to get this coffee maker back into it's former A+ operation but sorry to say, it is a piece of junk so we are rating it a D- for poor performance over the long haul. We are very disappointed with this particular model of Mr. Coffee.

Great coffee maker but clock buttons too easy to bump
I bought this programmable coffee maker to replace another "high end" model that had burned out after only a year of use. I am very happy with the ease of programing this coffee maker as well as the over all function. The warming plate keep the coffee at the perfect temp for me and the pot does not dribble at all when pouring. The "sneak a cup" works fine and only occasionally drips when the pot is first removed. Nothing a quick wipe with a towel doesn't fix. The only fault that I can find with this unit is the buttons for setting the time are poorly placed. They are directly on the front of the unit and slightly raised. This would not be an issue if I needed to press a "set" button in conjunction with the hour and minute buttons, but this is not the case. The time is changed by simply pressing the hour and minutes buttons, which means I end up inadvertently changing the time each time I accidentally bump the unit while working at the counter or when wiping the unit. Needing to press a "set" button or press and/or hold the hour/minute buttons would help eliminate this issue. Even recessing the buttons would help. But, again, that is the ONLY fault I have found thus far. Otherwise, it is the best coffee maker I have owned. I'd give it a 4.5 star rating, if we could do half stars.

Great, so far!
I wanted to wait until I'd had this for a few days before writing a review. I've had it now for about a week and I'm pleased with it. I wanted a pretty basic and inexpensive maker, but one that would brew a decent tasting cup of coffee. This does have a delay brewing option (so I can wake to the scent of coffee instead of an alarm blaring in my ear) and a two hour shut off so I don't have to taste burnt coffee on those days I drink slowly. It has viewing windows on either side of the water tank so you can see how much water you're pouring in - handy if you want to pour from a jug of filtered water. The basket is removable for easy cleaning and re-filling. To brew a full 12 cup pot from start to finish is less than 5 minutes (okay, I didn't really time it but it's perfect for dropping a bagel in the toaster, spreading on the cream cheese and pouring a cup of coffee, so however long that takes.) I think I answered any questions that I might have had before purchasing. If you want to know anything more specific, ask and I'll probably answer! ;)

It's temperamental, some days it's good..sometimes not so much....
Again, you get what you pay for. When it makes coffee correctly, which is does 80% of the time, it does it just fine (not superb flavor always, but average or better). Our main issues are that even if we get the filter in there and take our time and make sure it's against all sides of the plastic piece, it still will randomly push it down, thus getting grounds in our coffee. The other problem is, it doesn't work well as far as pulling out in the middle of the cycle to pour...a little keeps going, and today I had a steady stream going until I put the coffee pot back under it. It's just very temperamental is the best way for me to say it.*Update 11 months into the pot* It continues to get grinds in the pot. The coffee is "okay", but just doesn't taste great (without the grounds even). I will not buy this product again.

No more waking up to fresh coffee
I loved this coffee maker until last week. After only 4 months, I noticed that it wasn't keeping time- it was going too fast. I keep it on a counter that doesn't get used except for coffee and tea, so I know nothing was spilled on it and it wasn't hit/jammed. I tried washing around the minute button just in case something sticky was in there. No luck. I eventually worked the little button off that one presses to adjust the minutes in case it was jammed. Without the button it's still adding time!I specifically bought this one for the programmable feature, but that's won't work since I can't adjust the time and it's adding minutes on its own will. It still brews if I turn it on manually.

Stopped working after 32 days.
This coffee maker stopped working for me exactly 3 days after the return window for Amazon expired. The water heats up a bit, and it turns on, but it will NOT percolate into the pot. Complete piece of trash that I now also own a permanent Gold Tone Filter for...For reference, I made less than one pot per day over the last month, out of 30 days maybe 23 days of making pots of coffee. Do NOT buy this.Update 2/14/15: After my coffee maker stopped working I brought it to a certified repair place that, luckily, was in my current home town. The man at the place of course had no idea what to do to fix it, he was simply a conduit for sending the item back to the manufacturer. About 2 weeks later I received a unit back and it worked. I've used it steadily, at least twice a week to make full 12 cup brews since that time, which has been roughly seven months. Today, just one day before a major snow storm is coming, the new unit stopped working. Same issue, will not percolate. I also noticed the clock issue that others have mentioned in reviews. I've had to reset the clock because it somehow became "way off", typically in the middle of the night on a pretty regular basis. If I had to venture a guess, I'd say that the electronics that run the clock and also potentially regulate the percolation are defective/poorly designed for longevity and that is the consistent problem with this unit.As inexpensive as this unit is, I don't recommend purchasing it unless you plan to bring it to the repairman and wait a couple of weeks every time the unit stops working.I'm cutting my losses on this one and going to the store this morning to hopefully purchase a more robust unit.

Simple and reliable no-frills coffee maker.
Absolutely zero complaints about this coffee maker. I needed a basic programmable coffee maker, I bought this one, and it's everything I need and nothing I don't. It was very easy to set the time and program a desired time to start in the morning. If you can program an alarm clock you can figure this out in no time. Coffee comes out piping hot and brews at a reasonable speed (takes about 10 minutes for a full pot). Simple on/off buttons and does exactly what it's supposed to do. Unless you need something fancy that grinds the beans for you or has multiple settings for water temperature, etc, this should be a good option for most people and won't break the bank.

OLD SCHOOL PERFECT!!!!
Perfect Gift! This is a SIMPLE to use, perfect coffee-maker! I already own this coffee maker (have had for several years and use it everyday) -- Got this as a Christmas gift and it is perfect! Makes great coffee, easy to use and no "programming" required!!! (You just put in the water, put in the coffee and turn it on)! It has more features if you want to use them, but I never have --- so happy they are still making this thing! My family member was thrilled w/the gift and has already successfully used it!! (although she had NEVER made coffee before in her life)! It is also ECONOMICAL as you are not 'forced' to buy 'coffee-pods' or 'cups' ! It is 'just' a good old-fashioned coffee-maker!!! LOVE IT!

hot coffee here!
this is my fourth mr. coffee coffeemaker, and i pleased with it. first off,-it does what it is suppose to-make fresh hot coffee. this particular one seems to finish brewing somewhat faster than my last one, which was in the same moderate price range. the clock light is a bright blue, but some have exaggerated in stating that it is so bright you can use it for a night light. while it is brighter than what you normally see on kitchen appliances it is not nearly that bright. i want to mention that, for me at least, it is easier to add the water without spilling it or having it run down the side of the pot. i think this is because of the design where the front top edges seem to protrude outward somewhat. the coffeemaker has a brilliant bright black sheen and would look smart in on any kitchen counter. good buy

Great no nonsense product
I am so thoroughly pleased with this product, I have another one on the way as back up when this one fails. No alarms , bells or other nonsense aggravation, no silly little useless filters to change, has automatic shut off, easy to clean, easy to read clock, and makes a great cup of coffee to boot.
