Penhaligon's Bayolea Eau de Toilette

Penhaligons is one of the oldest perfumers around, and it really shows here.Bayolea is a primarily male scent, with undertones of sandalwood and upper tones of spice and lemon. It's and appropriate scent for any occasion, as it doesn't have an overpowering effect.I purchased two 50ml bottles, as the product can oxidize over time. If you are buying, I'd recommend considering how often you'll use it. If it's only for very special occasions, you'd want a smaller bottle. So long as you use it up in around a year to 18 months, go for a larger bottle.

This a subtle (but not weak) fragrance. Sort of dry and refined and not at all sweet or flowery. It lasts all day and feels sophisticated to me

I have never tried Penhaligon's before but have always thought it looks classy and distinctive. I was put off before because someone told me that former Prime Minister and architect of the Brexit debacle David "Call me Dave" Cameron used to wear it but apparently this is an urban myth.I suspect that the word Bayolea is a made up word too. I have looked it up and this only context in which it seems to be used is in context to Penhaligon products which range from Eau to Toilette, to soaps and, strangely, under arm deodorant. So what to make of this Bayolea fragrance? Well it certainly lives up to its billing as being "citrusy", so why does the user not merely squirt a lemon on themselves and save around £45 in the process I hear you ask? Well it is all e bit more subtle than that. Yes there is a distinctive lemony smell but there is also cut grass (I am beginning to sound portentous now) and an underlying masculine aroma that is a bit woody and maybe a bit peaty.And it lasts all day too, which is always a sign of a good quality fragrance. It comes in a fancy bottle too with a bit of ribbon around the top and an equally fancy box that looks the part on any gentleman's dressing table.

It is great to be able to get this perfume through Amazon. We got one of those samples for my Dad on a trip to Paris and when we saw how much he loved the perfume, we tried to buy it locally but we're not able to get it. It is the same perfume as the sample and he is now enjoying it.
