I bought a class set and thought it was a good book. My kids were less than enthusiastic about it, but you know how sophomores are. If I gave them candy, they would complain that they didn't get pizza.

My favorite part is the vocabulary index
Genius! Get the teacher's guide and/or student manual to go with it. My favorite part is the vocabulary index. I'll be creating similar ones for my students' other materials!

A Must Buy
This is an amazing resource. I love all of the new Latin novellas that have been coming out lately and this fits right in. Every Latin teacher should get this book and anyone interested in learning Latin should also.

Another great “Extensive Reading” “Comprehensible Input” (1-3)
Piso Poetulus is another great “Extensive Reading” “Comprehensible Input” novel for years 1-3. Piso is a boy who keeps trying to win his parents love for who he really is, but he just can’t live up to his parents dreams for him (almost a universal experience). The story itself would be fun to read (years 1-2). A year 3 Latin might like to learn to read the poetry “in the Roman way” (knowing which vowels to drop). It has a wonderful index with every form listed in its phrase and translated. It shelters vocabulary (only 108 total vocab) but not grammar (includes acc plus infinitive, perfects, fut perf, passive, third, fifth declension, even the odd subjunctive “sit” ). It all makes sense in context. This is great for anyone trying to learn to read Latin without translating it.You can buy the Audio version at iTunes search for "Piso Ille Poetulus" or "Piantaggini" woops, or at Amazon. This is not an audio telling of the story, but teaching how to read Latin poetry.Read them in this order1 Rufus et Arma Atra2 "Agrippina: mater fortis: (hopefully this will be an ongoing story :-)3 Piso Ille Poetulus. (There is also a teacher's Book)Rufus et Arma Atra by the same author is even easier to read. Rufus is Piso's little brother. While Piso was obsessed by poetry, Rufus is obsessed by gladiators. He has also written "Agrippina: mater fortis: mater fortis" which probably comes after Rufus (mine hasn't arrived yet)Other easy “Extensive Readiing” “Comprehensible Input” novelsIter Icari William Simpson year 1Clavis Apollinis William Simpson year 1Marcus et Imagines Suae Bonae.
