Excellent cable tracer and bargain price
Excellent. Had to locate 1 red wire, in amongst 50 others, over a 16M run. Took less than 5 mins thanks to this unit. (Bought after £600 FLUKE unit was rendered useless when batteries leaked onto circuit board)

Does the job well considering the price
It did the job to a good enough standard for what I needed, so I'm happy with the performance all things considered. Would recommend for DIY but professionals might need a more premium version.

Easy to use cable tracer
Bought this to trace an aerial cable in a plaster wall where the back box had been covered over and it did the job with ease.My only advice would be to use good batteries, as the ones in the pack weren't great so initially the signal was poor. This changed massively with more power and the cable was located in about a minute.

Batteries were flat and no use for tracing a robot mower perimeter cable
Bought to trace a break in a garden perimeter wire for a robot mower. Proved much to insensitive. The wire is about 50m. Basically the receiver could only sense the wire when actually touching it. Locating the wire in an inch of grass was pointless even if I knew its location to within 2 or 3 inches. Sensitivity seemed to be slightly better if the wire - which is normally surface mounted - was not touching the ground e.g. when it ran over small dips in the soil and was pulled taught so there was a small (mms) gap between it and the ground. Perhaps damp soil throws off the receiver. The AA batteries were flat. I replaced them and the LR44's to try and improve the signal grasp. Maybe it can trace a wire in a wall but useless for my intended purpose. I guess it is cheap as there is a new model out. Also cannot test live wires as stated in the advert (see picture).

Make sure the button isn't stuck!
It works, but make sure the button doesn't get stuck down while it's stored, as the battery will go flat.

Easiest way to trace a cable
Used this for tracing armoured cables across a car park. Worked just like it should. Very impressed for the money!

Better than expected
This outperfomed the cable trace on our £1500 network tester, that was enough for me.The only reason I gave it 4 and not 5 stars is that the lid is very flimsy, knock it or drop it and the hinges will break. Not a massive deal as it will work without a lid but it did let it down slightly.

Not very sensitive
Whilst this is easy to use it isn't sensitive for practical use.It can detect an exposed wire, but anything in a wall is simply not seen by the detector so it was returned.
