Bought this as a carry-all to replace my M-1936 pack which I found was a bit too large. I’d read that many GIs would use their gas mask bags to carry personal items. This was after they had dumped the gas masks. In the film 'Battleground,' you see at least one GI stowing items in his bag.This reproduction is near perfect. The Chemical Corps logo seems a bit large, but this is a very minor quibble. The integral strap length can be adjusted to place the bag right on the hip.There is also a long, thin strap used around the leg or waist. Stories say GIs usually cut this strap off. I haven’t done so yet, but it really has no purpose other than for what it was designed. I was going to cut it off until I saw it being used in the aforementioned movie. The GI uses the strap to attach the bag to his web gear iin case he drops it.

I had one of these my father kept from his service that I used for day hiking in the 70s . It feel apart eventually in the sudden PNW climate.This was a nostalgia buy, but it's still super useful and surprisingly well made. It's clearly not the original-how could you even find cotton Canad like they made then- but it's still far from the disposable nylon products standard now.

Looks great. Gets lots of compliments. Canvas softens further with use. Can fit books, small tablet, misc gear in main compartment. Inner pouches are great for coins, snacks, earbuds, etc. Clip your water bottle to it with a carabiner and you’re set for the day.

総じて良いのですが、もうひと回り大きければと思いました。メッセンジャーバッグになってしまうのかなあ…一見したところ耐久性は普通レベルではないかと。内ポケットは縦長で特に左右はモノが取り出し難く、仕切り糸がすぐにほつれそう。なので星3つです。

Nice bag for lunch or carrying a book or few magazines on a walk.
