Q: Does it matter which way you spin this? It seems to have much more resistance in one direction than the other.

I insert mine and twist it back and forth, but it seems to do better if you twist it clock wise while its in the pipe end for de-burring. The directions say to twist it back and forth. It seems to work pretty well over all.
