AUTOMEC ABF004 Silicone Brake Fluid, 1 litre

I've just re-built a 1973 Mini 1275GT.Halfway through I realised that it would be a nightmare if all my hard work cleaning, de-rusting and re-painting was ruined by leaking brake fluid. So I decided to use DOT 5 (Silicone) instead of DOT 4.I completely re-built the brake system including all new pipes, re-built the master cylinders, servo, callipers, etc.In the end it turned out to be a wise decision - I had several leaks and the car ended up covered in brake fluid (as did I) but being silicone there was no damage whatsoever to the paintwork (or me). The garage floor squeaks a bit when you walk over it now but there is no visible damage.The brakes and clutch work absolutely fine with it and I can't tell the difference (some say that the pedal feels softer)...It was the perfect product for my restoration (and fast delivery to Cyprus from Amazon) but it MUST be stressed that you CANNOT mix this with DOT 3, DOT 4 or even DOT 5.1 fluid as it will produce a gluey mess that will stop your brakes working!

If you own a classic, you really need to change to DOT5 fluid. Works very well, and no more yearly fluid changes.

Does what it should, fit and forget

Have used this make of silicon before, and been using it on my Morris Minor now for about 12 years with no problems. Its better than the normal brake fluid as it does not attract water, and it does not damage paintwork as far as I know.

Arrived promptly, exactly as described. Haven't test it yet as the vehicle is off the road.
