Secret Sussex Resistance, 1940-44 (Military Books) Paperback – 24 Aug. 1996

Very useful book for anyone interested in the defence of mainland Britain during the Second World War. The story of the Auxilliers, including my Grandfather mentioned here, was long overlooked due to the necessary secret nature of a secret defence force. An important contribution to this history is made by recording the first hand accounts of the survivors as time move on.

Well researched book. It inspired me to write 3 books based on the information I gained.

Was very disappointed in this book, especially as it was bought as a gift. The cost had led me to believe it was a far more substantial book and not the thin booklet it turned out to be.

Very interesting with lots of local place names to help imagine where the events took place. A book that is not too deep easily read and very awe inspiring of the Heros that very nearly were.

If you are interested in the Auxiliary Units or Home Guard, then this book is definitely for you. Meticulously researched with years of field surveying, with great photographs and drawings, this book is clearly written and fills an important gap in Britain's wartime history, that could have been lost forever. The book charts one by one all of this front line county's Auxiliary Unit patrols and their bases. Fascinating and thrilling stuff.
