Q: What hard drive is inside the hub? I struggle to find any conventional drive this big for this price.

It's an Archive HDD ST8000AS0002, I took mine apart to use the drive in my HTPC setup, you will have to break the enclosure to a large degree to get it out

Q: does this work with ps4

It works perfectly well with my PS4 for installing / playing games and other media. Based on USB 3.0 it provides me with way faster loading times of games than the internal HDD of PS4. It was a brilliant purchase.

It certainly can, I've done that myself. It is a fully functional USB port.

The Seagate 8000 seems to be advertised on Amazon today for £349.99. The one I bought from Amazon in September was the Seagate 4000 Backup Plus Hub for £119.99. It is now about £95 for Prime customers.Best wishes, David H
