Q: Why does it not smell at all like lemon or mint? It has a soft molasses type smell even when I shake it up. It's relaxing so far though.

I find the lemon scent very subtle, though I can taste it. The glycerin takes over a bit. A tincture made with alcohol will smell more strongly of the herb used as alcohol extracts the constituents from the herb better than glycerin.

I read the bottle for you. I saw no corn or corn by-products listed.

Q: What is the extraction rate, 4:1 or 8:1.

It is a 1:1 extraction We use 8 lbs of Lemon Balm (Melissa Officinalis) per gallon of base. Most other Lemon Balm extracts are only 2 lbs per gallon of base… making our Lemon Balm 4 times as strong! Not only is it 4 times stronger than other brands... The plant and flower is harvested at the peak of readiness, and carefully shade-dried to retain its full color and aroma, then is properly extracted. Our extraction process takes over 2 weeks so you end up with a more potent extract that contains contains volatile oils & esters, something not found in lemon balm capsules or teas.
