So much freedom!
Brilliant. After finally getting around to trying a menstrual cup, I can honestly say it lives up to the hype, haha.I chose this one as my first because of its shape and apparent firmness (not too hard, but not super thin and flimsy), and it's been a really good choice.Inserting and removing it became super easy after a very short time, and it's so comfortable once it's in that I don't feel it at all - that's very significant for me, since I've always been hyper-aware of tampons whenever I've used them!Being able to not use pads is such a blessing. Not only is it so much better for the environment (and my bank account), I also don't have to put up with the icky feeling they can cause. It's honestly given me so much more freedom!Keep in mind that inserting and removing it for the first time will be a learning experience! It could take a while, so make sure you set aside time on your first try. It's totally worth it though - you'll be able to figure out what works for you, and soon you'll be able to put it in and take it out pretty efficiently. As a general rule, if you tug on the stem and feel some resistance, it's in properly. It forms a vacuum around your cervix, so it's basically suctioned in place - that's how it keeps from leaking.Tips for taking it out: bear down, since that will push your cervix lower and you'll be able to reach the cup more easily; squeeze the bottom of the cup (above the stem) and twist and pull; or if you still feel resistance, push a finger up the side of the cup until you feel the rim, and press inwards until you feel the pressure release. Most people only have to empty it once in the morning and once at night, which sounds awesome. Unfortunately for me, I have extremely heavy periods, so I do have to empty it once every hour or so for the first several days - however, I expected this, since I've always had to deal with losing that amount of blood. Just keep your flow and the amount of bathroom trips and removals / reinsertions you're willing to put up with in mind!(I recommend bringing a packet of wet wipes with you if you're out and about, to wipe it off if you need to empty it in a public bathroom). One caveat though - if you've never been sexually active, or haven't had anything of significant girth inside your vagina before, this might not be for you. I know personally I would never have gotten it up there, and if i had managed, getting it out would've been nigh unto impossible, haha.Anyway, overall, it's fantastic. I'd recommend menstrual cups to everyone, and although it's the only brand I've tried so far, the Vida Cup is really brilliant. If you're on the fence, absolutely give it a try!

Fantastic product that has revolutionised my periods.
I bought this product almost 3 years ago now, and I still so impressed and amazed by it. I had wanted to try one as I was concerned about the environmental impact of disposable sanitary products, and I have heavy periods so I was spending loads each month on tampons that didn't really do the job. I usually suffered leaks and had terrible absorbency cramps. When the cup came I was a little dubious that it wasn't from a big brand, or that I didn't have a clue how to use it (I was 17 at the time so no children). The first time I used it I definitely inserted it wrong and it felt uncomfortable and I panicked that I couldn't get it out. If you experience this stage please don't give up! I watched some videos about the different ways to insert and found one that worked for me. Since then me and the Vida cup have had a happy ending. I practically forget I'm on my period, even on my heaviest days I'm able to leave it in for the entire day and I can comfortably exercise, swim, and sleep in the cup. I rinse it in hot water every evening of my period and do a proper deep clean boil once I'm finished. My advice to anyone considering buying one would be to DO IT! This does a great job with a better price tag than big brands. Buy this if you want to wave goodbye to terrible periods.

Overall good product but has some limitations
I'm trying a menstrual cup for the first time after 15+ years of tampon use. I mainly wanted to try it to save on the waste tampons create, eventhough I used ones without an applicator. I'm two days into using the cup and I like the product and the idea behind it. I had no issues with insering or wearing it during the day or over night. I had no issues with the stem either, it is not uncomfortable or poking, although I found it useless in the means of helping to remove the cup, I use it to feel and make sure the cup is in place and at the right angle and suctioned properly. I however ran into a few minor difficulties. One of it is that there always seem to be just the tiniest most minimal leakage happening, so I would still wear a thin panty liner just so I don't get stains. The other issue I ran into is that there are no instructions for removal and so it took me a few seconds to figure out how to remove it. That is when I realised that the stem is useless as due to the suction the cup won't move when you just pull on the stem, you have to squeeze the cup lightly first. I tried two ways of emptying the contents based on the reviews here. Once in the shower before bed, which proved to be the easiest method and once over the toilet in the morning which proved to be a bit more difficult and messy. First of all I was terrified, that I'm going to drop it in the toilet as you can't really get a proper grip on it, secondly it took quite a bit of toilet paper, shuffling around to the sink, clean it, shuffle back action before I could use it again, so next time I know it takes some preparations. This brings me to my main concern with this product which is using it in a public toilet like in a restaurant, shopping centre or porta potty like on a festival. As the cleaning does require water and soap before using it again, it makes it difficult to use in these situations unless the cubicle has its own sink. I would also be a bit nervous going to the beach where there are no toilets available. While you can discard a tampon or pad in a dog poo bag and throw it out in the bin with the rest of the rubbish you can't do that with the cup. Saying all that the cup does hold a lot of fluid so it is unlikely that you need to change it while you're out or you can check on it before leaving as it won't cause the "dry tampon" issue, however if you need to check that things are still in place or need to adjust, it can be challenging, and on a long day out, on a festival or while camping it can definitely be difficult. So to me the product is not ticking all the boxes for "easy to use" or practical as it is more or less limited to changing and cleaning it in the convenience of your home. It is overall a good product, however I might still use tampons occasionally when I know I'll have limited access to water and soap for an extended period of time (long flights, camping, festivals etc.)
