Apex Natural Food - Poppy Seeds (1 Pound)

First and LAST purchase of Apex poppy seeds. Decided to trust that kosher means kosher (to be kosher, seeds must be unwashed), as advertised onsite and on product bag, but Apex has been downright deceitful: In picture on left, the bottle contains the first rinse of SN seeds. The bottle on the right, the first rinse of Apex "UK" "Kosher" seeds, the rinses each from exactly 2.5 cups of seeds to 2 cups of water. Picture says it all, doesn't it? Apex seeds are 'clearly' almost completely washed, on par with BRM. They also smell peppery and plasticky--washed but unclean. Apex had better change their ways--don't they realize how many people rely on claims of kosher as dictated by their religious beliefs? For shame, Apex!

All these reviews are helpful.......if you’re in the DEA or the FDA. You people just don’t get it. Hope you like frontier, that’s all that’ll be available soon. Hope you like products treated with Ethylene Oxide, or irradiated with radiation. And you thought you only had to worry about them being washed. Remember when you could buy pods? I wonder why they took them off the shelves? Oh that’s right, reviews like these and websites dedicated to talking about them. I wonder why these go out of stock every year? Well it’s not rocket science. Please! Everybody!...go back to being ashamed about this stuff and eat your seeds and talk about them in private. That goes for you guys using code words too. Come on man, it’s not like you’re writing in Sanskrit.

Decent for brewing but far behind FTL and SN if that’s your intent. There was a white sticker over “unwashed” on the back of the bag which was weird. Smelled good but potency was lacking for sure. Not worth the price but they’re good in a pinch.

I took a chance on these even after reading the negative reviews. Disappointed! Especially with the white sticker covering up the word “unwashed” on the packaging. False advertising! Also had a peppery taste! Will not order again; even in a pinch!

It was advertised as unwashed. When I got the bag, there was a white sticker that was easy to remove, covering the word “unwashed”. They are clearly washed and clearly taking advantage of the poppyseed market or lack there of. Save your money and stick with the regulars. SN is expensive but pretty consistent in product.

These are some of the best poppy seeds I’ve ordered. The value to quality is phenomenal. Made some bagels over the weekend and they came out so good!!!

Not the best, not the worst. Will do in a pinch, but otherwise not worth it.

I have purchased seeds from Apex on several occasions. I was really impressed with my first few bags, but after that the quality dropped off quite a bit, I'd say from a 7/10 to a 3/10 for a little while. My last two bags are perhaps a 5/10. In otherwards, these seeds are a bit of a gamble. Most seeds on Amazon have this same issue though, so poor quality may just be the new normal these days.
