stunning little Porro!
This 6x30 offers lovely wide angle viewing producing a crystalline pure sharp image right out to the edges.. and the resolution really is VERY good and the extra detail and steadiness of image far outshines higher powered magnification binoculars. Close focus is a very respectable 3 metres which is good enough in most birding situations. Lightweight ( under 500 grams ) can fit this little beauty in my bellow jacket pocket. Long eye relief of 21mm.. perfect for use with spectacles and sunglasses on out in the field. Highly recommended! NB* Iv directly compared this 6x30 with the opticron adventurer t wp 8x32 porro.. and my conclusion is this savannah is brighter, sharper and has no edge distortion and is clearly superior taking into account the 6x30’s larger exit pupil and overall viewing comfort..I was initially very impressed with the adventurer 8x32 but this 6x30 has opened my eyes..

Focus Jammed Solid though Excellent Optics
They arrived defective. It was a warehouse deal so I knew I was taking a chance but they were described as box damaged and bin slightly marked neither if which was really true, oh and they were also described as a camera? lolProbably not checked by anyone with any knowledge of the need for binoculars to focus which might also explain why the eyecups were placed around the objectives. They are quite a large eyecup but definitely eyecups. There were no objective covers in the box but I think they do normally come with some? From what I could see of the binocular and through it where it was focus jammed, the optics are very impressive. Lovely steady undistorted bright vibrant natural colour view. Excellent.I'm feeling now though that these bins can have focuser jamming issues as some-one else also spoke of it in their review and it seems to be a weak point so I'm not confident with these in that regard which is a great pity though they do have a good warranty but I dislike sending things off for repair.I have an 8x24 Carson Mantaray binocular which is similar but smaller and not as bright but at least it never fails to focus and I like it's more compactness but the view with the 6x30 is very good and I would certainly prefer that but it is also slightly a more bulky binocular and feels a basic budget build but then it is a budget bin. Pretty light weight feeling also.I am still considering getting another (I just returned the faulty bin) but I am a bit hesitant after having had this problem as I would not like it happen with another one so it seems risky sadly, especially given that the optics are so nice.I have since opted to order & try the Opticron Adventurer T WP 6.5x32 Binocular which seems a similar option so hope that works out better when it arrives. Fast forward a couple of hours & ok it arrived and initial impression is something along the lines of I'm staggered by the view, it's so huge and a lot of other good stuff and cheaper than the Savana WOW! & it focuses very well in fact seems to do everything very well. A great relief. I actually in the past returned a Nikon EII 8x30 as I didn't like it but I like this Adventurer immediately so I'm sure it will get a good review once I take it outdoors to try but I know already that it's perfect for home use so if you don't fancy the Savanna I'd say give this Adventurer a look though it is a bit heavier and sort of old fashion style but it feels solid & most importantly the view is what makes it an amazing bargain.

Returned!
These are a nice, compact and seemingly well made binocular. I was concerned that 6x magnification might be a bit too low for general use, but no, it’s just fine. Image quality is better than I was expecting, a nice wide view, very sharp across most of it, with a bit of tail off at the edges. I didn’t notice any chromatic aberration in the centre, but there was some towards the edges. Not enough to worry about for me. Image is nice and brightThe lower magnification gives a nice depth of view, whilst being a porro prism design you get a lovely 3D effect. Optically these are really nice for their price. So, why did I return them and only give two stars? The focus wheel is horrid. When changing direction of focus, there’s a lot of play before the focuser actually engages. There’s also a plastic scraping against plastic sound and feel to it. It completely ruins these otherwise excellent binoculars for me.

Not up to the job or maybe bad luck...?
Unfortunately the focus adjustment jammed after three days use. We were in the tropics and I think they couldn’t cope with the humidity. Shame as up to then they did a good job. **follow up review** When we got back I got around to sending them in and within three days they were back, no charge, fixed. Excellent repair service. Well done Opticron. I’d purchase again . Back to 5star!

but having tried these myself I think this is a good choice even for an adult
I bought these binoculars for my 7 year old nephew and will have to wait for his feedback after his birthday, but having tried these myself I think this is a good choice even for an adult. With a minimum IPD (Interpupillary Distance) of 50mm, the Opticron Savanna WP is suitable for children who has a shorter distance between their eyes than adults. What I also really like about these are the retractable eye caps which you can adjust if you're wearing glasses or not. The Savanna WP is also lightweight and small for little hands without being too small for an adult.

6x30 Great, 8x30 Not so Great
I tried both the 6x30 and the 8x30 models of these binoculars and my own view is that the 6x30 model is by far the better of the two. There are two main reasons for this. The first is that the 6x image is much brighter than the 8x. The second is that because these will be used handheld, it is much easier to maintain a steady image in the 6x, meaning that even though the magnification is less, I found that you can actually see more detail. In terms of optical quality, I can't fault these and they are the equal of binos costing 3 times the price. Unlike some of the other reviews, I found the focuser to be excellent. It is slightly stiff (and I do mean just slightly) but that is a strength, not a weakness. There is nothing worse than a loose or sloppy focus knob as it makes it all to easy for them to fall out of focus when taking them in and out of their case. You want to just be able to pull these out and be able to view immediately.A brilliant quality bino at an incredibly low price.
