Leviton Lampholder, Incandescent, Medium Base, Keyless, 660W-600V, 9878

I used this in conjuction with a heater guard cage also purchased on Amazon for a reptile cage application.Note that this medium base lampholder socket requires a 1.5" dia hole because the wire-side protrudes about 1/2 inch and is just shy of 1.5 inches in diameter. This actually worked out very well for me, but just be aware that this socket is not truly "flush mount". The mounting ears are 1.97 inches center-to-center. No pigtails on this - you can use your own crimp terminals if desired and wire to make the connections.

Perfect for my application. I needed more light in an out building with 2 x 8 rafters. I was able to mount these on the 2" (1.75") side and they looked perfect. Much better than the 4" wide base of the basic Home Depot offerings.Caution tightening the screws with the porcelain base. I broke one by over-tightening one screw. My bad!!

This socket is extremely well made. My only complaint is that the photo gives the impression that the bottom is flush with the bottom of the mounting holes, it is not. It actually has about a half inch protrusion which requires a large hole in the mounting surface to accommodate the socket. Fortunately, that will work in my application.

I used it to wire up a heat emitter for my wife's bearded dragon, works great, if you use it like I did, use some pretty heavy gage wire, I used 12 AWG for a 100w heat emitter

These were used to restore a antique light from a fifties style diner. They were an exact copy of the ones we took out that were made in USA years ago but these are "Made in China".

Perfect fit for my application of replacing a broken socket in a very old fixture. I had to use a PVC pipe to fashion a 'stand off' for the wiring which is underneath the socket.

I have a dry sauna and I used this to make a light fixture. I needed a porcelain base to which I added an oven light bulb. Sauna temp can be as high as 100*C or more at ceiling. I was very careful screwing this into the wood fixture as if you over do it you can crack the porcelain. I put a little silicone washer between the screw and the fixture to make sure it didn't crack or chip up. So far so good.

Perfect replacement for a broken one inside my post lamp. Be careful torquing down on the ceramic. I was using a 10/32 with nut and torqued a little too much and snapped the screw hole. Luckily there was still enough for the screw to hold on to. Be careful!
