Van Zyverden Amaryllis Kit Red Lion With Artisan Decorative Planter

Just that it took a long time to bloom - and looked dead most of that time = but omg - when it bloomed it was awesome! - haa so many blossom still - separated the buds and put in them individual vases - and that worked a treat.. ... so whatever you are doing keep it up.The only negative was that the actual color was not red like it showed on the tag - but color was beautiful anyway.:: maybe note: depends wherever you are in the world -"it may take a bit longer to bloom -"

Healthy bulb and the plant has grown from bulb to flower pods and leaves in two weeks (approx 24 inches) all indoors. Very pleased!

I will preface with the fact that we grow Amaryllis every year... so we know what we are doing! We ordered 16 of these for holiday gifts. We always time our planting for the blooms to be just opening when we deliver.We did like the buckets and how easy they were to plant. That's the extent of our positive experience with these bulbs.14 of the 16 bloomed. They were slow to bloom... taking several more weeks than usual. So when it came time for the holidays they were still in a "spear" not opening or even close to opening yet. There were several varieties, none of them the Red Lion. Some were red with white strips and very stubby. Some were white with red stripes and very tall.We will not order from this grower again :(

These were very nice to gift but although I ordered two red ones, one ended up being white and pink.

I ordered 2 of these Amaryllis in late October and planted them immediately to ensure blloming by Christmas and they did not disappoint! They arrived with everything necessary for planting as well as decorative, red metal containers. While one plant was a little slower to grow, it caught up with the other and began blooming within days of the faster growing plant. I will definitely order again next year.

I ordered about 10 of these and had them sent to our Christmas list. The bulbs all grew, but were not great bloomers. Previously, I have ordered from Jackson Perkins and everyone had multiple stocks each with 4-6 blooms each. This year mine took a long time to begin growing and then developed only one stock with 4 small blooms. Over the years I have grown many amaryllis and have never had such disappointing performance. If I decide to do amaryllis again as Christmas presents I will not use Van Zyverden . The red planter is really nice.

One came with a pod of dirt..add water but it didn't make enough dirt. The second one had NO dirt! One is growing nicely and is 6" tall, the other had a bare peek of green showing. Not happy! !
