I really like them
I started playing guitar about three years ago now. I was using a fairly standard .90 guitar plectrum, which did me well for my first two years. Unfortunately, the herniated disc in my neck has been aggravating the nerves in my right arm. This causes a lot of pain and swelling in my wrist and thumb. It basically killed any idea of alt picking with a plectrum. To compensate for this issue, I started finger picking more and went on the look for a good substitute. That's when I found these Dunlop heavy thumb picks. Before I found these, I tried a couple of different brands with very little success. I found the size a bit too inconsistent between brands and really hard to judge what would make for a good plectrum. These Dunlop Heavies however are near as perfect as I could have hoped for. The idea behind them is pretty straight forward. For those that don't know, it's a plectrum that hooks on to your thumb which means you don't need to grip a thing. Removing the ability to grip really relieves the pressure on your hand whilst freeing up your other fingers for picking. It also has the added bonus of giving the player a similar sound texture to that of a plectrum player instead of that blunt thud from your bare thumb.I found the plectrums to be comfortable. The thing sits perfectly and barely moves the whole time I'm playing. It works well for strumming, partially because of the angle and the extremely smooth surface. I haven't had any issues playing stuff like Status Quo, AC/DC and other rock tunes like Rush's Bastille Day with the thing. I wouldn't recommend these thumb picks for people who want to play metal. It's just not made for that sort of thing (can always prove me wrong!). I also find that I misjudge the distance between my thumb and the strings every now and again. It takes a second or two to get adjusted to it. It doesn't happen so much now after a couple of months worth of practice, so don't be put off if this is an issue. As a disabled person with lots of issues with my hands, I highly recommend these plectrums for people with similar issues. I would also recommend them for the average player who wants to play with both a pick and fingers or someone who simply drops their plectrums a lot. It works really well, is very sturdy and getting three in a pack is a nice bargain.

Nice once you get used to them
So they do slip a bit to start with, you need to find the right placement to suit you and your style. It allows an open hand thumb strum but you can use your index finger to support it as a normal pick style. The rings on the pick I found to be slightly more open or closed depending on which was used but I think this was down to how they are packed. They stack them all together so the outside pick is stretched more than the inside, but a bit of a heat and a squeeze sorts it out and gives it a new memory position. When strumming you need to be aware they can slip off if you get a bit thrashy.A little bit pricey for 3 picks but they do the job

Suits my style - clear thumb pick doubles as plectrum.
I love these. I find the medium is the minimum thickness I can use as the thin ones are a bit flimsy. I like the fact I can wear this to get a crisp clean thumb stroke and easily morph into flatpicking and strumming.

Take a bit of getting used to
I bought these to experiment using a thumbpick. These a a hybrid between a thumbpick and a standard plectrum. For a plectrum they are a bit too rigid. For a thumbpick they are a bit large and cumbersome. As such they take some getting used to. If you do a lot of strumming they are fine. For more accurate lead guitar work they are perhaps not the best. Personally I prefer a thumbpick which I can sand down to a comfortable size to allow me to strum as well as pick.

Struggling
I thought I'd try these so I'm kinda not the best person to review these , but they just slide or twist or come off my thumb too easily for me. Yet there is a snug tight fit around my thumb.. shame as they are not cheap for what they are.

And you could hear the fingers pickin’.
When it comes to thumb pics, these are my favorite, they’re comfortable, they don’t slide off, and they are light. I have numerous guitars, and these pics really enable me to bring out the best in my playing, truth be known, they make me sound better than I am for some strange reason. They come in at least two gauges, heavy and medium, I have the medium and they are perfect as they are solid, but mildly flexible as well. If you’re a campfire player or seasoned pro, grab a pack of these, if you’ve never tried them, you’ll be glad you did. 🎸

Love them - no more pick spin!
I really love these picks because not only can they be used for finger picking and strumming, but when used for strumming I no longer have to deal with the issue of the pick "spinning" between my thumb and index finger.
