Streamline Imagined Raven Bookends Decor for Home

1/7/2015 Review, re Raven Bookend Set (sold by Always Brilliant and fulfilled by Amazon): I purchased a set of these bookends from Amazon on 12/4/2014. They arrived in a timely manner but were damaged. They were not chipped or broken, but the bubble wrap had rubbed some of the paint off of each bird's breast feathers. I called the distributor (Streamline), to find out what kind of paint was used on the birds, and the Streamline rep said the finish is an oil-based semi-gloss paint. I advised Streamline that the packaging damages the product in transit and that, based upon consumer reviews I had seen, that damage seemed to be happening a lot. The Streamline rep said they would inform the manufacturer so that, hopefully, they could improve the packaging.Meanwhile, at Michael's Arts & Crafts Store, I bought a few brushes (79 cents each). I then went to a local art supply store and purchased a small (1.25 ounce) tube of oil paint (about $6) – specifically, "Artist's Oil Color: Mars Black (opaque)" made by M. Graham & Co. (mgraham.com). Oil paints sold in art supply stores do not seem to come in "matte, gloss, or semi-gloss" finishes, so the opaque Mars Black was the best option I could find. Oil paint takes a VERY long time to dry, but it's worth it. The Mars Black is an excellent match to the original color. I did not repaint either bird entirely. With the small brush, I merely touched up the areas where paint was missing. I tried to apply as little paint as possible and only in very thin coats, so the paint would dry faster. I think the birds will be dry enough to handle and use within about 2 weeks. If I had received birds that were chipped or broken, I would have returned or exchanged them. However, since the birds I got were just missing some paint, I am satisfied with the solution I found. Also, to protect my furniture, I added some small felt pads to the bottom of each bookend. I don't know if they weigh enough to hold up a bunch of heavy books, but I plan to use them to support my CD collection on small shelves, so I think they will do just fine. I think they also would work well as bookends for a DVD collection.Overall, the birds look adorable, and the way their feathers are detailed make them look incredibly life-like! I am very glad I bought them.

These bookends are beautiful and painted very realistically. They are very nice.

I am a real fan of Crows. Their intelligence is undeniable and impressive, and they are a truly beautiful bird, in my opinion. When I saw these beautiful babies, I instantly fell in love! They are simply adorable! They are very true to life and extremely well done. I took a chance and purchased them used, and was not sorry I did. They came in a little scuffed up and in need of a bit of TLC, but nothing disfiguring or permanent. A little touchup later, they are as good as any brand new ones would have been. The only complaint I had upon receiving them, is that I didn't have an entire flock of them in my hands! I would buy every single one of them on Amazon, if my husband wouldn't have me put away! ; ) If you love Crows like I do, don't hesitate to buy these cuties! You won't be disappointed you did!

These books ends are great. The book ends arrived faster than described in advertised. Fits very well in dark academia, gothic and maybe steampunk decor. Perfect if you love/like Edgar Allan Poe, his poetry, stories, and writing. Totally subjective in this opinion. They look realistic, and are of substantial weight to hold a series of good sized books. Great value for money. Once again they are Awesome books ends.

I love the book ends. My only issue is one of the wings is chipped. You can see the white spot in the middle of the wing. It was nicely pack, and seemed protected so it must have happened before it was placed in the box. I think I saw another one of the reviews with a chipped bird. It’s an easy enough fix. I can get some black paint and won’t even notice it, but I would prefer for it to be prefect out of the box.

I instantly fell in love with these bookends when I first saw them. They looked like they were incredibly detailed in the product picture and would go perfectly with my room.I ordered them and they arrived on time and were packaged well. They were in perfect condition, no chips to be found. I've never seen such beautiful bookends before and was anxious to set them up. They hold my books sturdily but I'm still considering buying metal book ends just to reinforce the books so they don't end up breaking my ravens.The ravens themselves are incredibly detailed.The only thing I didn't notice before I bought them is that their pupils were painted on with white paint but it doesn't look too bad.All in all this product deserves a 5-star. I couldn't have asked for more! They are incredible bookends and I would recommend them to anyone.

Raven fans will love these. So will their books. Nice style and production quality, perfect for bookends.

Here is the deal: the crows are packaged face to face, in a small box, without a divider between the two, from the manufacturer. The paint rubs against each other and the resin can break. The first set arrived with broken beaks and feet and rubbed off chests so I sent back. The second one I ordered had all parts in place, just had rub marks. Easy enough to cover up with a water-based black craft paint. The detail is great. They are solid resin so reasonably heavy for smaller fiction books. I wanted them on the end of a row of heavier taller books, so I used a simple black metal bracket to hold the books in place, with this an end cap. Perfect.
