Reign of the 5 star
So this is review of the movie, not the seller or someone complaining about no digital download and giving it one star without having even seen the film. So the movie is spot on great from every angle. Voice acting is great, sound quality what you would expect and the animation an style I just find superb. The story is great an even though I read the source material when I was a kid when it was released I didn't remember everything so it kept me guessing. It wrapped up in a nicely at the end and I really enjoyed the different variations of "Superman" always have been a big Steel fan but found myself enjoying Eradicator the most overall. Do not regret pre ordering the movie and would do again

Reign of the Animated films is Super
“Reign of the Supermen” is the second film to a two part animated story about Superman dying and the response from others like Lois Lane not knowing who to trust as a protector, the first film: “The Death of Superman” needs to be watched before viewing this second part that derives from the same storyline. Like the overwhelming majority of comic book films—live action ones like “The Rocketeer” or “Whiteout” and cartoon films like “Wonder Woman (2009)” or “Batman: Under the Red Hood”---“The Death of Superman” and “Reign of the Supermen” are not the exact story nor the same telling of events from the comic books that it is adapted from. It is vain to desire a comic book movie that is exactly like the comic books because film studios have clearly decided to constantly makes changes to movies based off novels and comic books---“Batman: The Killing Joke” is the only film to be almost an exact adaptation of the graphic novel it is based off of but that movie did add a backstory to the character Batgirl that was not told in the comic book in order for viewers who don’t know much about Batgirl to learn about her through character development and so that they feel for her when she experiences a tragic event in the film “Batman: The Killing Joke.”---so viewers need to accept that movie studios constantly change the story from its source material and duly judge a comic book film based off its story as well as pacing, acting as well as representation of characters or themes, cinematography as well as musical score, and the ability for one to easily understand why characters perform certain actions or understand why an event occurs.Following that method of judgment, “Reign of the Supermen” earns four stars in the noted characteristics that are depicted in comic book films and in non-comic book movies. The first star earned is due to an interesting story that makes sense with quick pacing. There is little filler like characters doing chores, waking or having restless sleep, or using the bathroom which is often used in movies to show character development slowly. The animated films’ quick pacing is like what is told in comic books so depicting such story telling is a good representation of comics. The film’s story is the Fantasy genre with grandeur events, just like the genre for comics which is Fantasy heavily influenced by myths from Greece and Rome only set in a modern city which overtime has been given a newer label of Urban Fantasy for similar stories found in novels: thusly, comic books have always been the genre of Urban Fantasy even before that label was used and that is why relative authors like Jennifer Estep reads comics for inspiration to write her Urban Fantasy books. The second star is earned for acting that clearly expresses emotion and personality from the characters. Listening to the actors, a viewer can tell when a character is glad, angry, playful, violent, or indifferent. Tone of the voices change due to actions performed, responding to others, or experiencing various events, and voices are synched well with the animated depiction of characters talking. The third star is earned for nice cinematography and an interesting musical score. Cinematography entails colorful art that is not too bright nor dulled by obscuring by yellow, blue, orange, or green filters that are so often used in recent movies; there are no uses of such filters for this film and its predecessor. Additionally, positioning of characters as well as objects and the setting are displayed similarly to a stage performance and they interestingly depict depth and a symmetrical environment. Details of the art utilize fine lines with simple textures and smooth shading, typical of what cartoons often display. Music does have melodies and unique rhythms that sound valiant which is constantly used to help express emotions and important events from the story. The fourth star is earned for being able to easily understand why characters perform actions and understand why events occur. Starting with the first film “Death of Superman” and including all that precedes the last scene in “Reign of the Supermen,” a viewer who follows the films’ logic realizes why characters behave the way that they do and why encompassing events transpire after the first event from the first film. Editing is good since several seconds pass on a frame or on a scene making it is easy to see actions and events, one isn’t bombarded by short stills that give feelings of jerkiness in a movie because both animated films display stills that give plenty of time to view a scene. No more stars can be given to the “Death of Superman” or “Reign of the Supermen” because a fifth star can only be awarded for an exact adaptation of a film’s source material. Such adaptation does not occur for the animated films, but this is typical of almost all movies based on novels and comic books. Moreover, just like the overwhelming majority of animated and live-action comic book movies, “Reign of the Supermen” and its first part are more easily comprehended when comic books are read beforehand. Comics entail such grandeur in its Fantasy genre that to unread viewers, comic book films may seem too unpredictable and silly with unrealistic stories. But that grandeur of Fantasy and Urban Fantasy is the very nature of comic books and so film adaptations will also represent similar degrees of being fantastic and other worldly, therefore it is highly suggested that viewers read comic books to learn their grandeur and fantastic story elements to better comprehend and appreciate comic book movies and TV series.Specifically for the reviewed Superman films, knowledge gained from the special series from DC Comics called “The New 52” is needed to better understand what is going on in the two movies. “Death of Superman” and “Reign of the Supermen” are not based off the original DC comics from the 1990s as some may mistakenly think, noted films are derived from the DC New 52 series that entailed special and unique story telling set in a new universe and a different timeline than the original comics.---New 52 Series' stories are purposely separated from all comics, all films, all tv shows before the New 52 Series that began in 2011 so that readers can easily read the New 52 Series starting with the first volume called Secret Origins that reboots, updates, and fixes flaws in all DC characters' history and personalities best suited for a modern setting which then allows people to learn from Secret Origins the environment of the special universe, effects of the different timeline, and fixed character flaws. For example, Superman's original flaw of not being trained as a fighter is fixed in the New 52 series by having Superman be trained as a warrior and mentored by Wonder Woman: the original flaw of Joker's Daughter being too silly is fixed in the New 52 series by having Joker's Daughter be brutal in her endeavors to establish herself as a deadly adversary. Readers can continue reading about the different characters like Wonder Woman since her New 52 comics ensue after the events of Secret Origins. ---The New 52 series was also written with a very strong story arc for each DC character which produced one long story where each individual comic book was essentially only a short chapter in a greater tale where the new universe and timeline produced a different history and personality for characters than what was originally depicted in comics before the New 52 series. It is greatly advised for those who want to better understand comic book films or who want to read good unique comics, read: Secret Origins The New 52 Series, one of the scariest and captivating plots from Joker that expands across these story titles in this exact order of Detective Comics: Faces of Death then Batman: Death of the Family followed by Joker's Daughter the New 52 Series, Batgirl the New 52 Series, Wonder Woman the New 52 series, Supergirl the New 52 Series, Superman/Wonder Woman the New 52 Series, Harley Quinn the New 52 Series, and Trinity of Sin: Pandora. If one wants to learn more about noted comics, there is always the official DC Comics YouTube channel called DC Entertainment that has interviews from authors, artists, actors, and film makers who review or suggest comics to read. Or there are book trailers with original music themes for characters performed by musicians for various comic books which can easily be found by using a search engine and typing in the name of the comic series and placing the words trailer or theme after it.

Good But Still Not the Comic. I would rate it at 2.5 stars if I could.
This movie is miles ahead of the Superman:Doomsday animation but ultimately still fails to meet the comic book standard that was originally set over 25 years ago now. While I won't write spoilers about the movie for the review I will just leave it at this. There were a lot of shortcuts obviously taken for time constraints to fit over a years comics into 2 DVD's. Not nearly as many as the Superman:Doomsday DVD thankfully but enough to tease people who have read the original story. I was left wanting the deeper story that was originally told that had multiple character arcs with much bigger consequences that just Metropolis. Sure there was a hint of global consequences but ultimately it fizzled out quickly and left some of my favorite characters out entirely and diminished their role in the return of Superman. This will most likely be the last animated attempt at telling the story in my lifetime and it's a shame because I've wanted to see it for 20+ years since DC is known for their animations. Thankfully, I have the original comics to read along with the consolidated versions but it's a shame that such a good story has been held back since it's original printing because it would be a home run among the hardcore fans and the general audience that appreciate the DC Universe so much. For someone without any knowledge of the original story this will be a good movie (like most DC animations) and hopefully instill enough curiosity to read the story the way it was meant to be.

A Solid 3.5 Stars
I am a huge Superman fan and thought that this story was pretty good, not anywhere near Man of Steel, but pretty solid. (Spoiler alert...) I did not understand why Superman came back in black, that was not explained. I wish it would have stuck to the original story-line with Jonathan Kent playing a role in Superman's return. One of my biggest complaints is that there was a fair amount of gratuitous swearing that did not add to the story. If you are looking for a good Superman cartoon movie, try Superman Unbound. The story was a little more engaging than Reign of the Supermen, although it is not the same storyline as "The Death of Superman" and "The Reign of the Supermen". Again, I give it a solid 3.5 stars overall, but since that is not an option I rounded up to 4.

What the Justice League Movie SHOULD HAVE BEEN like
DC Animated Films are best and will always be. No one can come close. This plot, animation, and casting for this movie was spot on (as always). It stay true to the comics. This is what the Justice League movie should have been like.
