Realistic & delicious
These recipes actually taste good. My 6 & 7 year old can both help significantly to complete the recipes. So many kids cookbooks either just don’t appeal to them or are too complicated. My son, 6, enjoys reading the pony comments on each recipe and is super proud of himself. My daughter, 7, likes the ponies and is working on reading the recipes. It’s not something we will use everyday but at least every other week on average. The cookie bars are actually delicious even if they are super sweet. They taste very similar to the soft iced sugar cookies from your local grocery store. You know, the ones you see at pot lucks and kids parties.I like that the recipes have a rating system that allows you to gauge the difficulty level 1-3 cupcakes. 1 for easy & 3 for more advanced. I also purchased a science activity cookbook at the same time. It’s not very practical for small kids but I think your more adventurous 8-12 year olds would probably love it. The my little pony cookbook is something we will continue to use long after my daughter outgrows my little pony. It isn’t perfect, I do not like that some recipes call for a cake mix while others have you make the cake. However, the overall effect is simplicity and they have achieved it deliciously. It is kid approved and sugar fiend (me) approved. My husband does not like super sweet things but that hasn’t stopped him from enjoying the recipes.Pancake recipe is really good!Chaos Cookie recipe beats ghirardelli recipe and ingredients with store brand ingredients. Hands down better in every way. I can’t believe this “children’s cookbook” is so good.

Perfect for the Pinkie Pie within
I've used lots of kids cook books, super hero, seseme street, princess and America's test kitchen. All of them have good, easy recipes, but I absolutely love the recipes in this book. So far we've baked 4, and they've all been delicious and beautiful.I think that's what makes this book extra fun; he TV show has a lot of bright colored baking, and you can really feel the connection between the cakes and the show. The recipes are also very easy, which means my six-year-old can do more than add the sprinkles at the end (most recipes have sprinkles at the end).

Lot of fun recipes for kids and adults to do together
The recipes in the book are geared towards kids. I know it seems weird to say that about a KIDS cookbook but many of the kids cookbooks out there are not fun or have a lot of things man kids won't like in them. I mean...what kid LOVES dried Kale chips?!The recipes in this book are very colorful and fun. The recipes we have made from the book have also been good. The kids love skimming the book and looking at the MLP stuff injected into it.One of the better kids cookbooks...especially if they enjoy MLP!

Two Thumbs Up from an advanced Home Cook
My daughters and i are having so much fun baking with this cookbook! It is 100% My Little Pony, so colorful and the characters are well represented. There is a good variety of recipes and as long as you are not a novice in the kitchen, they are easy to follow. Don't forget the most important rule in the kitchen: read the entire recipe before you start! That way you'll be ready for what's coming.I'm very happy with this purchase. There are sophisticated recipes here, not just "fill-in-the-blank with rainbow sprinkles!" Purple Velvet Cake, Strawberry Pretzel Pie, Chocolate Lava Cakes, Pumpkin Apple Muffins, just to name a few.

A new favorite in our house!
I recently purchased this book with hopes of encouraging my MLP loving teen to bake with me. It worked beautifully! We've already made the Apple cheesecake crumb bars and the chocolate chip cookies. Both turned out perfectly on the first try. The bars especially were fantastic! My daughter got lots of compliments from the friends she shared them with. The recipes in this cookbook are easy to follow, the pictures are so bright and colorful and if you love MLP, the art and characterization is lots of fun. It is also hard cover and seems to be pretty sturdy. I highly recommend this baking book!
