Gorgeous drawings
I always try to diversify my taste in comics and explore artists from different places and this piqued my interest. This volume by Alberto Breccia is incredibly beautiful, with stark black and white art that you can spend hours staring at. You will not regret this, get it now before it goes out of print.

Fantastic serialized compilation.
I just discovered Breccia after researching more books by Oesterheld. I absolutely loved the original Eternaut and there were only a few works by the author before his untimely disappearance.Mort Cinder is an intelligent action adventure that transpires through the ages. Thanks to the Lazarus-like abilities of the protagonist, the short stories can be set anywhere and anytime in history. It is truly ahead of it’s time.I had no idea that Breccia was a huge inspiration to my favorite comic artist of the 1980s, Bill Sienciewicz. It is apparent in the panels of Mort Cinder, that experimentation and emotion were paramount to the artist. The artwork is exquisite. This graphic novel is a wonderful addition to any collection.

A brilliant achievement in comics finally in English
I'd long heard that Breccia was a great innovator, even changing styles to suit a story, but since only three or four of his stories have been printed in English until now it was difficult to appreciate his facility and imagination until now. This reprint of material from 1963-4 is incredible and humbling in that I can't think of anything in the US that at the time could begin to compare. Breccia utilizes multiple techiniques (including texture creating by dipping wadded up paper towels into ink then lightly appling it to the page) and media. If this doesn't win Harvey and Eisner awards for best American/English reprint next year something is wrong. And it's only the 1st volume of translations to come from Fantagraphics.

A black and white masterpiece
This is truly a brilliant collection of comic strips from a half century ago. The writing is insightful, the art is just brilliant. I cannot recommend this highly enough.

It's about time
It's nice that we can finally read this book, I've been drooling over the art for many moons, I hope Fantagraphics continues the series and puts out Perramus and all the others. Breccia had an amazing and varied career, he jumped all over with styles, truly got to evolve and adapt with each project. I think the world will be a better place if the English speakers get a chance to absorb this amazing talent. It might just influence more people to use razor blades to ink comics.

Beautiful book!
Breccia's illustrations are breathtaking! It looks like he uses every possible tool he can find to ink his work. Really cool to see comics like this that certainly must have inspired the likes of Mignola and Miller! The book is so well designed too!

Atemporal!
