Oregon Scientific AWP133 Barbeque Thermometer Probe for Model AW133

TGhe oregon meat thermometer is great. It really saves you from jumping up and down to see how the meat is cooking. Unfortunately the probe does not last long as it tends to twist and the wire cracks so that every couple of years I need a replacement probe.

Unfortunately, using these types of probe thermometers in hot cooking environments, sooner or later you're going to damage the probe. Usually you accidentally place something too hot on the wire, it melts the wire's insulation inside the woven metal sleeve and it shorts out. Or you melt the connector. Or something else.But luckily replacement probes exist at a reasonable price. Just make sure you get the correct model for your thermometer.I used this one as a replacement for my Oregon Scientific AW132. It works great. Actually it's even better than the original - the 90 degree bend makes it easier to grip while removing it from food and also reduces how much clearance you need around your food so it doesn't interfere with your grill or smoker lid.Recommended.

The probe works fine. Word of advice - don't get the probe wet where the wire goes into the probe. The accuracy will be affected or the probe just won't work at all.

These are renowned for failing just when you need them. The braided cable seems to be very sensitive to heat damage. It is nice to have a spare for that inevitable occurrence without having to buy the entire set like when my first one failed. I am using this with my older, but still serviceable model AWP 129 and it functions and appears identical to the original.

Product stopped working after a year

Good replacement for my AW131's probe. The old probe constantly read high when plugged in, even if it was just in bare air (I suspect cleaning it in the dishwasher killed it). The new one works much better.

Not very accurate. Measures a good twenty degrees below another thermometer.

Was glad that I could replace the sensor wire, instead of the whole unit.

So far I haven't been able to get this probe to work.
