Your triple-threat adventure pants. With bug repellency, cooling, and odor-blocking technologies, you'll be playing outside from breakfast to sunset. Flattering, off-center front seams keep you looking good. Pockets keep your gear secure, and you can zip off the legs to 9.5" shorts for versatility. ExOfficio loves innovation, so they developed the new BugsAway Sol Cool technology to give you the ultimate in travel comfort and protection. Sol Cool Jade fabrics slowly absorb and quickly release heat, creating a cooling sensation on the skin. The fabric is cool to the touch and wicks moisture. SILVADUR activates silver ions in the presence of undesirable bacteria, helping eliminate odor. BugsAway apparel is treated with Insect Shield, giving you invisible, odorless protection just by putting on your clothes. The treatment is bound to fabric fibers, so it stays in your clothes-not on your skin-and lasts through 70 washes. It's effective against ants, flies, chiggers, midges, and ticks, as well as mosquitoes.

Worked well on our rafting trip and dried quickly. Leg length somewhat short and waist is large.

Disappointed in these...sigh!
I was super excited to find Insect Shield bug repellent pants in a petite length, since they're extremely difficult to find. These are purpose-driven designed and are very well constructed...except for a couple of major flaws, that make them totally unworkable for me. (But first of all, I should add a disclaimer I didn't buy these for hiking, but for yardwork in our heavily Deer Tick-infested property. So there's a lot of bending and lifting sort of stuff going on.)1: Now, I understand to have bug repellent clothes, it helps to have fabric that mosquitos would have a hard time biting through. BUT, there is absolutely no "give" to this fabric, (not even on the bias), and the fit relies on the baggy design in the legs, resulting that the pants don't move with you through the hips when you walk, and they certainly don't stretch when you sit or bend over.2: The front zipper is only 3" tall (I measured it) and the rise in the crotch is very very short. Even though the "waist" looks big, it's really because the waistband is designed to sit on the hips. So when you sit, for instance, the waistband cuts into your gut in a most uncomfortable way, unless maybe, just maybe, you're super skinny.Other than that, the construction is top-notch. Some of the features are:*The contoured waistband is 2.25" wide, which is where the pants get all their support from. It's also higher in the back, for better coverage.* The zippers at the knees convert the pants into shorts, and are color coded so you know which zipper belongs to which leg.* As pants, the inseam is 28.5". As shorts, the inseam is 9.25".* Snaps on the back pockets instead of annoying Velcro.* Ample hip pockets. A handy zippered leg pocket on the right side, deep enough to hold an average cell phone.* The pants have 9" zippers at the bottom of the inseam. Not exactly sure why you need zippers at the hem, unless you have super-oversized hiking boots, and would need the extra space to get them on. The circumference at the hem is 17". (Like I said, the fit is baggy, so there's plenty of room getting them on.) Personally, when I'm doing yardwork, I tuck my pants into my socks (keeps the ticks from crawling inside the pants), so I prefer a narrow hem.Bottom line that make these unusable for me, is the non-stretch fabric and the hip-hugger style waistband.

I suppose one doesn't buy these for style, but ...
I suppose one doesn't buy these for style, but the pockets are vertical slits and very far forward on the thigh so they kind of gape open and make the pants even more unattractive.
