Wayne 56671 56671-WYN1 Repair Kit PC4, Black

Perfect replacement parts for my wayne 1/2 hp transfer pump. Recommend watching a short video on u tube first as parts come with no instructions. After watching video replacing parts was pretty strait forward and not difficult. Pump is pumping as it did when i first bought it. Very pleased.

The parts were all the right ones and fit well in the pump. I wish there were some detailed instructions included. The installation tutorial by Wayne on YouTube is really quite awful. Several important steps were not even shown or explained on it. Either way the thing is pumping hard like when it was new. These pumps have become way to expensive to replace. They are simple and easy to work on.

I took a chance on this that it would be what I needed for the (apparently) identical pump under the Superior brand name, because I would not find a kit sold elsewhere specifically for that one, and I needed it quickly. Well, it seems like a good kit, but the instructions to replace the parts were woefully bad. I have to watch Youtube videos to figure it out. Bottom line: this kit may be perfect for Wayne pumps (I don't know for sure, or if maybe it was a design flaw), but the impeller does NOT fit the drive shaft for the Superior. The Superior has a metal receiver that is set into the plastic at the back of the impeller, and the bottom is relatively flush with the rest of the impeller rear surface - the outer surface of the receiver is flat plastic. The Wayne impeller is just a plastic receiver with a domed plastic front, and the shaft of the receiver extends out beyond the back face of the impeller. (Apologies if that does not make sense, I am not a technical pump guy) Bottom line is, I tried to sand off the extra length, but the threaded receiver wasn't long enough inside for the drive shaft. I tried Dremel'ing it deeper and re-threading it, but no good there either.Bottom line: while I am assuming the Wayne kit is good for a Wayne pump, it did not fit a Superior pump of the same design. I cannot be sure it was not a design flaw in the impeller in this kit, but either way, as a PSA, if you try to order this like I did, to repair a similar-looking cast iron 0.5hp transfer pump, it won't work with Superior, and I am not sure about Drummond or the other similar brands.

I actually bought this to repair my harbor freight comparable pump..... and to my surprise I got the parts swapped out and new ones (different brand) to fit in there and it works! A little bit of Ingenuity and dap plumbers grease and some cuss words and it’s working! Only thing I have to say about these pumps is if they run dry for 2 seconds it ruins gasket and leaks.....be extra careful inlet hose doesn’t accidentally come out of water supply for any amount of time.... at least that’s my experience.

I liked the kit being available, Wayne made the pump for Home depot. I had only two issues but otherwise good. 1. Should have instructions to rebuild, even if simple part breakdown. I think the kit had an extra washer for behind the plastic white impeller, looks like it should be added as an improvement to the initial build, installed and works dry for now anyway.Plus, so odd the haze colored plastic impeller itself is threaded, but for the life of me couldn't thread it on, looked like the threads were normal not backward. Got it on with turning and a but of hammering actually. Looks like more of a press fit than threaded fit.All should work, but I would also suggest in the future release adding the impeller facing bearing, mine cleaned up but so easy to get rusted if the seal fails as they can, thus the reason for the rebuild kit.My opinion, there is a design defect on the threads of the motor shaft and where they should thread into the translucent impeller, mine was so mashed around that mount point when disassembled. Otherwise a good design I believe.
