Q: I have read that these packets get hot when activated. How hot do they get?

When the oxygen absorbers absorb and react with oxygen they become warm. This indicates that the oxygen absorbers are fresh and they are working very well to absorb oxygen. If they are hot, it means they have absorbed high concentrations of oxygen. Usually, if when customers leaven oxygen absorbers in open air, they may become hot. If the oxygen absorbers are inside your stored food with small amount of air, they won't become hot. Thank you.

Q: How quickly do the packets react? Do i have to do a fire drill to get the unused ones resealed?

Pretty much. Get everything lined up and put all absorbers in pronto and store your unused ones. Time? The behind deteriorating immediately. I don’t know the magic time before they become useless
