will it fit a man's head for a costume?

I doubt it. Im a female and this wig was incredibly small, however, maybe my head is a little bigger than the norm.

Will it work with a gatsby head band and dress?

I ordered it just for that,. It would have been better if it was shorter but it worked good. The head band kept slipping up so I had to secure it with bobby-pins and plece it lower in the back of the head. Overall it was a nice addition to my costume. Hope this helps.

Pony tails were the style worn with poodle skirts. I would not choose this wig for a 50's themed costume.
