Love it but don't over pull as rewind can be temperamental.

Easy to use hosepipe that rewinds itself, the rewind mechanism works really really well, I am very please with it, however a little disappointed with the quality of the hosepipe itself, it not reinforced and is of a cheap quality, for the price I expected a better hose, but it works well overall

Isn't it funny when you see a product which you think should be popular, but it's got no reviews? (Sorry, currently a bit of an expert in hose reels as it's spring and we're in a dry spell and I've been investigating other people's hose reels and buying one or two accessories which are often amazingly good value, you can get a lot, sometimes, for only 2 or 3 quid - I'm talking about hose connectors and nozzles, little gizmos like that).So you buy it just to prove that it must be OK (knowing you can easily send it back in any case, this being Amazon).Why four stars, not three or five?A big plus is the relatively dinky size of this unit. We've seen a friend's German-made Gardena wall-mounted hose reel. It's more than twice the size, for the same length of hose (give or take 5m). ENORMOUS. This one is neat, not overbearing, and still functional.An odd feature (no stars involved) is the colour of this hose reel. If you were French you would identify it as the PTT (post office) colour. A French person passing this reel might easily post their letters in the slot where the hose comes out. Really.A four star rating comes from the price. It feels about right for the quality of the unit but the unit isn't perfect... please read on.The downside comes in the detail. All hose reels need positive action to unreel and then get them to wind in again. This reel 'grabs' (locks) only once you 'get' that you need to really be pulling it quite positively to give it the signal to grab on and stop the hose being reeled back in. It easily gets the message to wind back in, though.Also in the detail is the twisty controller on the end. It's definitely not up to Hozelock (and certainly not Gardena) standards. Sure, it stops the water when screwed right in, it gives a spray, and then a jet. But when turned on you can't get back from a jet to a spray or off, which other makes manage with relative ease.Also within a few days we needed to remake the joint onto the tap connector as it was starting to leak. The end of the hose had been cut wonkily.So, in summary, hose reels these days are generally amazingly functional for the price you pay and the complexity of the bits and bobs involved. This hose reel is a great contender, good for the price, and sits neatly and compact on the wall.Like any hose reel you will of course need a masonry drill and (in the case of this reel) a 10mm masonry bit, if you want to attach it to a wall.

I’m in love with this hose. Having had a non retractable one in our old house I’m so pleased to find this beautyIt pulls out easily and retracts with ease and speed. Love the colour - I feel like a fireman with it!The hose itself feels thick & sturdy. And it came with fittings that work well and a squirty end that you can adjust for different spraysExcellent

The reel uses a metal rod to operate. After one week of pulling and re-winding the hose, the rod bent in such a way as to make the unit inoperable--hence useless. In addition, the hose kinks repeatedly. This means walking back-and-forth to un-kink it, so as to retain adequate water flow.My house is newly built. I didn't have an outdoor tap until last week. That's why it has taken so long between when I purchased the hose reel and when I used it.

It does the job, but not well.Hose gets pinched feeding into the reel holder, and inner loop gets squashed flat hugely reducing water pressure.Wish I'd spent a bit more for a better product.

Initially happy with the reel, but after less than 2 years (which was actually used maybe a few dozen times at most) the return mechanism sheard off inside and no longer rewinds. If I'd used it daily I doubt it would've lasted 3 months. Wouldn't recommend.
