Good, as long as the probe is inserted deep enough into the liquid surface
It's a very good value. Once I adjusted it by holding the nut behind the dial face with a wrench and slightly rotating the face to correct for a 4 degree F offset, the thermometer was reasonably accurate (within 1-2 degrees F ) at water freezing, water boiling and 72 F room temperature per my NEST thermostat. Face diameter is large enough for my eyes yet not excessive. The green zone is the correct temperature range for milk in cappuccinos and lattes, and the lower end of the red zone (68C) is the correct point where milk will be overheated: protein denaturation, potential curdling, and a loss of sweetness, leading to a burnt or off-flavor. Probe length is perfect for a standard 0.5 l stainless steel milk jug for steaming milk. The thermometer can respond reasonably quickly to avoid overshooting your target temperature too much (60C/140F is ideal), even with a powerful boiler. However, beware: the active probe length seems to exceed 1 inch or 2.5 cm long up from the tip. Therefore, if the milk surface is not above the tip by at least 4 cm, you will experience a significant lag in response time, enough to overheat your milk. Ensuring significant depth is not so easy if you're starting with only 100 ml of milk for a certified Italian cappuccino. So, adjust the thermometer insertion until it is almost touching the bottom of the jug (but not touching!) and be sure to start with enough milk depth. Then you'll be fine. The clip to affix the thermometer to the jug is a bit big but manageable. It holds the thermometer firmly and properly operated allows adjustment of the probe depth.

Top Quality!
Great! They read fast and accurate compared to other manual thermometers. The grip is tight and easy to adjust height for various pitcher sizes. I’m using these from now on! Best price for Cambro quality.

Do not submerge in water for a long time. Does leak in after they age.

BIG - Easy to read.
It is big. Easy to read. It’s redlines at 165. 160 degrees, per Starbucks, is the temperature that milk is at it “sweetest.” I use this nearly daily to make my Latte, and at a glance I can seeIt nearing the redline and know to shut off the steamer. The clip holds its upright in the cup. It’s easy to clean. It’s built well. It’s one of those things, and there aren’t many, that every day I amglad I have it.
