I am now retired, but I had every cologne back in the 80's and 90's. My three favs were Paul Sabastian, Gendarme, and House of 4711 (cologne, not after shave). I recently got nostalgic and ordered a bottle of Paul Sabastian and it is still the same, same strength scent, lasts all day, etc. I get compliments every time I use it.So I decided to get the others too and got the big bottle of House of 4711 of 'splash on'. Like 28 oz., great price and you can pour it on your chest, neck, face and arms. Still the same scent but much lighter than years ago, and it lasts a few hours.I got on A>P. and called up Gendarme. I still have a bottle of the cream moisturizer. I was going to get the 4 oz. bottle until I saw the reviews. Not very good; not the same smell, doesn't last, yada yada. I bought the 2 oz bottle to save money and test, and I wish they had a 1 oz. bottle. IT IS COMPLETELY DIFFERENT THAN THE REAL DEAL from years ago. It almost has an alcohol smell which I don't recognize, but it doesn't last more than an hour so you won't have to smell your forearm to try and detect the scent.Sadly, I have to look for a new alternative, maybe Cool Water or Aqua di Gio. If you never tried this, go ahead on the small bottle. If you remembered and cherished the original, save your money!!!!!!!

This is not easy to find. Nordstrom was the only one that carried. They stopped. So glad Amazon has it now as my husband really likes it and so do I like it on him. It did go up in price though!

Best thing I can say is that I've been using this cologne for 35 years. Best scent I've ever used and still my favorite!!!
