This works well for my sump pump. I have two pumps connected to a "Y" connector - the regular pump and a backup 12-Volt battery pump if the primary one fails. To keep the primary water output from going back into the pit through the backup pump, I have one of these on the output of each pump. Works great.

This is a very good check valve it's the second one I've ordered, I got this one for a backup in case first one does ever quit working.

I know what you're thinking - why does this check valve cost twice as much as others, like the Basement Watchdog version? The difference is this Zoeller model actually works. Your time and frustration is well worth the cost difference. I tried two of the watchdog version and both leaked like crazy. The leaks were both internal, meaning they don't actually function as a check valve, and external through the housing seam, which leaves a puddle on your sump pit cover. I finally gave up and bought this valve and it's awesome. The clear housing lets you visually confirm that it's not leaking internally, and the bonded housing doesn't leak. Also, the anti-thud/quiet close works extremelly well. I'd say it's even quieter than the basement watchdog version too. My house has a bedorom right above the sump, and the thud of a traditional valve was quite loud. This solves that issue perfectly.If, like me, you're replacing a basement watchdog model then you should be aware that this Zoeller valve is slightly shorter in overall length. I was able to install it without re-doing my pipes, but it has the minimum overlap for the rubber boot. Just a FYI.

Original check with having knocking due to faulty valve. This is just simple in that you can see everything working, and it works well.

My sump pump gets into a state where it's not pumping water up and out. It bubbles and mixes the water around, but doesn't push water out. Also, no humming or hammering that could indicate a motor issue. I thought I'd try replacing the builder grade, generic, small check valve with this Zoeller.My old check valve was definitely sticking and appeared to have some corrosion -- it's not even 3 years old yet... The Zoeller is about 1.25 inches taller than my old check valve so I needed to cut the discharge pipe shorter. Install was easy afterwards. Pump immediately pushed water up and out afterwards. No leaks. I cannot hear this valve from upstairs like I could hear the old one at the end of a cycle. This DIY fix saved me a couple hundred by avoiding overpriced suburban Maryland plumbers, and I got a better piece of equipment than what they might have installed. Definitely a good buy!
