Q: Is this a bare/oem drive or does it come with hgst pack boxing? how long is warranty on this drive?

Bought 4 units from 2 différents suppliers. 2 were just in their seal bags and wrapped in bubble film. One was damaged and return back for replacement. Others 2 were of course in their seal bags and a packaging with frame support, notice, extra wire. No brand description on the box but packaged as it should be. Definitely what we expect for a part as expensive as this unit. Five year warranty from manufacturer if purchased from an official distributor. If purchased from non official one, warranty is limited from the date received from the official distributor, meaning the longest he hold the stock, the shortest yours become. Ask the date of manufacturing from the supplier, it will give you an idea how fast his stock rotate. The one damaged was more than a year old already. Good luck. Excellent product nonetheless!

I don't know about the warranty. The drive works fine. I have three of the 10 TB drives mounted in Drobos. I also have a bunch of the smaller 8 TB and 6 TB He drives. I've never had one fail.

DOES NOT have a 5 year warranty. Does not have ANY HGST warranty, due to the distribution channel. This is sold with "Seller" warranty. This Seller claims (on Amazon) to provide a 2 year warranty. On their own site I've seen a 3 year claim. I've also seen people having trouble getting an answer from the seller. In any case, if you want to know what HGST says, check your S/N with HGST.
