Decent fish tape
I bought this for routing Ethernet cable runs for PoE cameras. This fish tape made it really easy, having drilled through the underside of the soffit and inserted this to route through to the loft. Given the reasonable price of the fish tape, this is a really useful addition to the DIYer's toolbox.

As expected, no complaints.
It worked for what I wanted. A little stiffer than I expected but functioned well. It came lightly greased as you would expect. Wind out what you need from the cassette and wipe it clean first.

Did the job nicely and will live for other jobs.
I bought this to pull a Cat6a network cable through 30m of flexible conduit. It did the job well. The design is slightly different to the picture, as the trigger has been replaced with a push down button; An improvement from what I can see. This will live for many other jobs and is easy to push and pull with. A handle for the other hand whilst winding would be handy, but not essential. No regrets about purchasing this.

Brilliant. But oily
Brilliant quality. Extremely sturdy fish tape. Well worth the money. Not sure how this would work in the trade as the enclosure is only light plastic and reeling back in you can already see it stressing - but for domestic and light commercial you really can’t go wrong at this price. As someone else has pointed out - this is overoiled. Just be aware when using the first time - unpackage and unroll for the first time outsideIf this review is helpful - please click below so I know whether to carry on doing more

Useful but a bit difficult to use
I've used some other brands of fishtape before, the packaging this comes in is a sealed plastic bag within a cardboard box. The bag is sealed as the reel is over oiled, meaning oil covers the whole thing, resulting in me having to clean it off the handle, brake and casing before using it. Could do with less oil.Once using it, it is alright but to be honest is difficult to push into pipes, as the bend caused the wire to get stuck a lot, resulting in having to back out and go again. It's also difficult to put enough pressure onto the reel to push the cable through tighter spots, as unwinding the reel more when it hits a spot is a task, as the pushing ability of the reel is limited. Not a bad product but definitely takes time to use and would struggle in a lot of situations.

Not really designed for what its supposed to do.
Brought this to pull some electrical cable through a conduit, After trying to use the brake on the handle to pull the cable through I ended up unreeling the tape and then pulling it through with a pair of gloves on. The brake is the same plastic as the handle and doesn't grip the tape well, especially with how oily the tape is. This product is not fit for the purpose it was sold for and really disappointed as Silverline normally make good quality tools.

Spit on!
Wanted a draw tape that was easily wound back onto a reel after use as was getting tired of previous tapes getting tangle. It’s a solid metal tape with a nice rounded end to push through easily once out the other end. Was very cheap and works really well.

Does what it says on the tin
What to write? It's a fish tape, a nice long one. It rolls away nicely. It flattens out with persuasion. No, the product doesn't come with instructions, but if you're buying one, then you probably already have the idea. For those who don't, pull the tape to remove it, but move the handle to retract (it auto brakes). The tape has a handy loop on the end for carrying your cables.Downsides - the tape has a coating of black grease, which if you are not careful will end up on carpets and walls. Guessing this is necessary for the tape to operate, but it does seem a shame.Overall, a really good product that does exactly what it should. Just a shame it doesn't drill through joists whilst it's down there!
