Great little floor lamp. I bought the grey and needed it as an aside to highlight a table so it's not very tall. Also, black cord starts 1/3 up the pole and its black. (I painted it the wall color so it wasn't so visible.) For the price, the style and function are good value.

I am very pleased with this lamp and will purchase a second one for the other side of my sofa. It is well designed, appropriately scaled and well constructed. Very sturdy base. The shade is deep enough so that the light bulb is not extending beyond the shade, which happens in some fixtures, which causes the disturbance of the bulb glaring at you. What I really appreciate is that the designer/manufacturer has followed through with the cord being white (I ordered the white lamp). It is so irritating when you order a white fixture or appliance and when it arrives you discover that there has been no design awareness in this regard and the cord is black. In order to use this floor lamp as both a task and an ambient light source, you will need to order a plug in dimmer, which is fine. Overall, I encourage you to purchase this lamp. An excellent choice.
