Masterly summary of an enormous range of material.
For anyone who is in the least interested in where psychology is going this is an essential book. It puts all aspects of psychology into a new and brilliant intellectual framework. The charts alone are worth the money! For anyone seriously interested in psychospiritual development this is an absolute must!

Authoritative and relevant
Ken Wilber is widely regarded as one of the greatest minds of our time, even if his prose does not always endear him to unsuspecting readers. In this book, Wilber attempts to integrate the contributions of the different schools of psychology and sheds some light on the nature of the self. A goldmine of information and insights, 'Integral Psychology' will not disappoint those who seek an integral understanding of psychology and consciousness and are serious about their self-transcendence. Worth the effort.

Disapointing work from a truly great thinker.
Ken Wilber is one of the few writers who has attempted to integrate the multiple theories of human development and the evolution of consciousness. It is a topic that he has laboured with in his writings for many years now and I hoped that this book would finally present a coherent synopsis of his work. Unfortunately it does not. It is a very disjointed mish-mash of a lot of different theories few of which are dealt with in any substantial way. For the most part the book offers us nothing new, with Wilber touching off the same themes that he has covered in many of his other works. He also has a tendency to site lists of other philosophers repeatedly as if to remind us how well read he is; ever heard of footnotes Ken. What is particularly disappointing is the fact that the text amounts to only about two thirds of the book while the rest is made up of lots of poorly explained charts comparing the various theories which Wilber claims map onto his own. All told I felt a little cheated by this book and would like to recommend "A Brief History of Everything" or "The Marriage of Sense and Soul" as much better choices.

Life changing!
Simply put, the book is life changing!I have never a read a book in which the author cites and mentions previous work of other contributors to the field as much as he does! The holistic perspective provided in the book is definitely a unique and interesting way of looking at reality, we simply can’t exclude anything when trying to make sense of reality, everything from alerted states of consciousness, traditional religion, to eastern philosophies and religions, to science, each hold a valuable piece of the big cosmic puzzle.

This book is a powerhouse
Pretty ambitious book, covering a massive spectrum of theoretical and applied psychology and spirituality. This book is very "deep." It's not an entirely easy read. Some parts can be quite dense because the author is pulling together diverse theories and concepts. It's not a lazy read because you likely need to concentrate or you will miss concepts. This book is really good for anyone with an inquiring mind who is fascinated by psychology, spirituality, or (hopefully) both.
