A huge Sunscreening Planter x2
The idea was to use two of these as planters to shade the western side of the housefrom the afternoon sun... They are huge! So they will be able to take a tall shader likesunflowers or even small trees. That is a lot of dirt! to come by.. Of course there wasthe discussion over the quality of dirt needed and the debate over a false bottom toreduce the amount of dirt needed.... All that said it looks like it will be a fall project.I've put in a layer of surplus garden flower pots, opened the drain hole so it won'tgrow mosquitoes. I'll cover the pots with garden fabric to give a good base. The labelwas easy to peel off. Came boxed. No dings no dents. Its perfect... let you knowwho wins the debate over what gets planted in it... and how much dirt it took.We tossed all of our used plant containers in the bottom to create a false, butdrainable, bottom. We then covered that with a couple of layers of garden fabric.Be sure to leave the drain plug out. Then we had about a yard and 1/2 of mulchcompost blend delivered. Trough is right at tailgate height so pushing it off directlyinto the trough was a back saver. Soaked it down a couple of times. Let it compactthe soil and drain out. Also be sure to level the dirt. So it doesn't puddle up at an end.We got two dollies from Harbor Freight for cheap but able to hold 300 pounds each.We can wheel the troughs under the shelter, turn them even relocate them for sunand shade needs. Concerns... they do get HOT and there is the concern that it mightprove too much heat for the roots... we've so much rain that there hasn't been enoughsun to measure by.

Best garden addition!
This is one of my new favorite patio items! I purchased this to create a raised herb/vegetable garden in my yard. I've researched many items and this seemed like the best option for us. It was well made with very solid welding marks for the connecting pieces. The gauge is a nice heavy weight that will easily support our needs. The best part is that there is a drainage spout on the back side to allow for proper drainage. We put some medium sized stones at the bottom to allow for easier draining and to add some additional grounding support. I also really like the height of this. I'm 5'8" and the top comes to about knee level. It's much easier on my back than having to work on a ground level set-up. We plan to order more of these to expand our garden! This supplier sent us this item and it arrived ahead of schedule. We also appreciated that it was packaged to prevent any damage during shipment. We will continue to purchase from this vendor in future.

Great for large plants, but make a plan to increase drainage
These are great for planting bamboo in. They are much cheaper than the equivalent-sized pottery planters. Bamboo needs good drainage, so I put a 6" layer of rocks in the bottom, then cut out a screen from "hardware cloth" (which is actually more like stiff chicken wire) to go over the rocks, and then a piece of the water-permeable black garden fabric that people use to block weeds on top of that. Then I filled it with the appropriate potting soil. It's been a couple years and the bamboo is healthy, and the containers look very good. The alternative would have been to puncture more holes in the bottom to increase drainage, and I didn't want to do that. If you use these for plantings, make sure you put them in the spot where you want them to stay, because once you fill them with rocks and soil, they will be too heavy to move.

Perfect for raised gardens and more
I'm using this for a raised garden and I adore it!!! I am thinking ahead to next year's garden and think I need a couple more. I contemplated turning it into an outdoor soaking tub, but the idea of fresh homegrown produce won out. It was difficult to bring myself to drill some holes in the bottom for drainage. Actually my son did the drilling and it was not easy. So this is a sturdy and well made item. It is also lightweight enough (without anything in it) for me to move around easily. I also purchased the smaller, less deep version, and recommend it as well. One of my sons plans to turn his into a fish pond with fountain. So glad I bought this. Only drawback is trying to remove the labels from the sides.

Trough: 1 / Stickers: 0
Jumping on the bandwagon here, but the stickers are ridiculous. The two Behlen product stickers are easy enough to remove, but the THREE shipping stickers are a major pain, especially the white plastic one (see photos). However, with a razor blade, Goo Gone & some steel wool, they ultimately clean up nicely, but plan to spend an hour on this task alone. As for the trough itself, we're using it as a vegetable planter and it is perfect for this task. I simply drilled some drainage holes in the bottom, filled the lower third with some cut up pallets, topped with weed barrier cloth & filled the rest of the way with topsoil and plant soil. I love that it matches the galvanized trash cans you can purchase for $25 bucks to grow long rooted tomatoes. I propped both up on large pavers to ease drainage. Beautiful gardening option to a raised bed in your yard.

Water Trough Leaks
I bought these tanks for my new miniature horse. The smaller tank was for hay and the larger tank for water. I filled the water trough this morning about 2/3 full and returned from work, eight hours later and there was about 1" left in the bottom and his stall was soaked. Amazon's offer to accept a return is laughable when you consider what the shipping on this heavy tank is going to cost me. I would like some compensation on the larger tank since it can't be called a water trough any more!! Next time I'll buy a Rubbermaid. Behlen Country products have been declining in quality and this is just another chinese piece of . . . . . .
