An Excellent Phone Directory + Wireless Headset
I have purchased a few phones lately, looking for old RJ45 phone jack and a good phone directory that had to include a headset...This vTech Phone had Caller ID which when matched with the Phone Directory stored number, would display the name I saved. This was my Number One feature, that I was after, as I wanted to know which Customer was calling me.And as a side note, the better phones similar to this one - do not - which is un-believable for the money !But... This phone has a great phone Directory, including a search feature off the first 3x characters !Now that is a handy feature !It also has a 32 number quick dial feature, which I use constantly, and a half decent Answering Machine system, which I also when I am out of the office. The Headset Port, which is what I wanted, works exceptionally well when I am hearing the caller, but all of my Customers can not hear me loud enough, no mater what headset I plug in :(And I have purchased at least 6 of them from Amazon recently, all having the same quiet affect, so disappointment there !I did however end up purchase the vTech Wireless Headset that works well with this phone...And all My customers, when using it, can hear me exceptionally well !The only drawback using the wireless headset, is the fact that it is an external device, so the time length of the calls etc, do not register when I "transfer" to the headset, which I have to do every time I make a call.(Which is annoying, but what I must do so Customers can hear me)Other than that, the display is a dot matrix screen, at least 5x lines - very handy thatI use 2x incoming Lines, so this handles that more than OKAnd the Wireless connectivity works well with the headset ( tried it at 20 Meters / 66ft.)My only gripe to vTech, is why only have a phone directory with a Maximum of 100 stored numbers ?Every similar phone out there is all the same, but having say 999 numbers to store would be super !Especially being a Business Phone !

Four portable handsets ringer volume quit working between 5-7 months of use :-(
Headsets initially worked well enough. Call sound quality excessively muddled.Range was adequate.Multiple lines feature, and set up adequate.Ringer volume and earrpiece volume initially adequate. However, after 5 to 7 months of use, the ringer speakers quit working on four separate phones. We are very familiar with how this phone is supposed to work, but I fix it resetting phone or changing ringer volume completely ineffectual.

Great inexpensive replacement for a PBX with all the same functionality
20 year old Avaya inhouse PBX system went down with a power issue. This VTech system was cheaper than a sales call and repair to the existing PBX system. We still have all of the same functionality as the old PBX. No problems setting up the base station with 3 of the desksets. The range on this system was greater than the usual home phone DECT 6.0 handsets. The signal is carrying through concrete and steel floors that formerly blocked those signals. Thanks to other reviews on Amazon, we were able to set up call privacy and turn off call screening too. We don't use the auto attendant yet but if you do, it allows the caller to have the option of choosing an extension.Any shortcomings were very minor:- You have to go into call history to clear the "missed calls" counter. It's only two button presses.- The voicemail only displays the name of the caller, not the phone number. You have to go into call history for that, if needed.- Auto-attendant requires hitting the extension number and then "#". A single button press would have been nice.Things we really liked:- It replaces a PBX for a few hundred bucks.- Doesn't require a charge/month/extension that a PBX service does.- Better range than regular DECT 6.0 handsets.- No problems with clarity through ear piece or speaker.- Can have call privacy (no snoopers dropping in on your calls)- Can either have incoming calls go to all phones or use auto attendant to direct callers to extensions.

would've been nice to know I only needed one
My business partner and I each bought one of these for our desks. We have struggled with it for a while now. Just found out that you can only have one per system, otherwise, they don't work. Bummer, they aren't the cheapest phones, nor the most expensive, but money is money. The phone works well, as far as we can get it to work. With 2 phones, you can't set up the voicemail, nor the hunting group. so I guess I will amend this after we receive the new add-on phone.

Good low cost - auto attendant - limitations apply
For the price this is an excellent phone system. Once you understand the limitation of the system and realize it's a $125 system, you can move forward and setup with confidence. The systems rings, when volume is turned up, regardless of whether AA is engaged or not. Yes, you have to 'play' the message if recorded from professional voice service. While the 'default system mailbox' and extension 0 mailbox are the same, they are used differently. Utilize your dial-tone provider to conduct rollover functions. The desktop stations capable of running on battery. (useful for setup)... As stated earlier, It's a $125 device, don't expect something this isn't. for a small office, in my case 5 people with 3 inbound lines, it is an excellent system for under $500 (extension sets included)

First unit failed after 30 minutes
Liked the features presented on product information page. However, 30 minutes after registering 2 desktop cordless models, tbe main console failed completely. No screen, no telephone capability. Replacement unit works fine, but the 2 satellite desktop units could not be reset to sync to the replacement main console. So those also had to be returned. VTech customer service line is terrible. Long wait time or it simply rejects the call because there’s too many callers. That said, main console and 5 desktop satellite units working fine two weeks after installing the replacements.
