my mirror glass broke in my 2012 honda accord SE do I need to replace the whole mirror attachment or can I just replace the glass?

I just replaced the mirror because the mount and housing were not damaged and still operated correctly with the buttons inside the car. Easy easy to do.

Will this glass help prevent glare from the head lights during the night?

No, this is just a basic mirror. Bigger trucks at night with super bright headlights will basically still blind you.
