A Spice Explosion That Might Be a Little Too Much
Wagh Bakri’s Masala Chai offers a robust and intense tea experience that might not suit all palates. The tea blend, featuring seven distinct spices including black pepper, cardamom, ginger, clove, cinnamon, nutmeg, and piper longum (pipli), delivers a powerful masala profile. The most prominent characteristic is its bold peppery heat, which can be overwhelming for those seeking a more subtle chai experience. While the tea boasts an enticing aroma and develops a deep amber color quickly, the intense pipli (long pepper) flavor dominates the blend, potentially masking the more nuanced spice notes. For tea enthusiasts who prefer a gentler masala experience, this might not be the ideal choice. The tea’s strong spice profile could be more enjoyable for those who appreciate a robust, warming beverage, particularly during cold evenings. Those looking for a milder option might find the Wagh Bakri Ginger or Elaichi variants more palatable.Despite its intensity, the tea remains convenient, eliminating the need to individually crush and blend multiple spices. It offers a quick and flavorful alternative to traditional homemade masala chai, albeit with a more pronounced spice kick.
