Forget the Sea Monkeys kit, get this instead
After having a mixed experience with the tiny 10oz Sea Monkeys kit I decided to use a far larger tank (1.5 gallons) and the results were astonishing. It's very easy to mix your own water (just get Instant Ocean salt, distilled water and a cheap hydrometer at 28-32 ppm), a 10-15 watt adjustable heater @ 74-80F (this is important or the eggs will not hatch), a small air pump* and off you go. Do not use any type of filter as brine shrimp are filter feeders and the food needs to stay in suspension. Brine shrimp are very adaptable to water conditions so you don't need much to provide optimum conditions, just consistency. They grow much faster than with the tiny kit tank and started reproducing by the second week. I now have over 20 adult critters and countless babies three weeks later. The advantages of a larger tank are numerous: it's easier to keep a constant temperature, it is much less stressful to the shrimp when doing weekly 10% water changes and it's easier for the kids to see them. Using your own tank is more expensive than the $20 kit (I spent about $75) but you'll have a self-sustaining tank that can last for years, not 3-4 months like the kit.*(edit) Do not use an airstone, the tiny bubbles produced can interfere with their respiration. Use an open airline tube with a adjustable valve to provide 2-3 bubbles a second. This will provide enough turbulence to promote oxygen exchange without unduly disturbing the shrimp.*July 2024 Update* The tank is still going strong with 100 or so adults and hordes of little ones. Brine shrimp will slow down reproduction once the tank reaches its limits so you needn't worry about overcrowding. Tank algae is a problem once you have a large population so weekly 10-15% water changes are extremely important to reduce nitrate levels. No one likes mucky green aquarium water.

Didn't Work
I've had alot of experience with sea monkeys as a kid. The directions are simple. I used filtered water and followed the simple instructions. Sea Monkeys never hatched. Yes, I gave it time.

They have hatched!
This is my second time hatching these little critters. I put them in a small Beta tank after moving my Betas to a full size tank. I kept a heater on to ensure the temp remained steady. They have hatched and are swimming about!

Very easy and exciting
The media could not be loaded. This is definitely something great to start out with. I had an old sand art container that was perfect for these guys. We had the water temp set at 75 and a little oxygen hose with a slow but steady bubble rate so they have enough and I wouldn't forget to air rate the babies manually, so it was a steady temp for more of a hatch success rate along with oxygen,Which was the best thing to do. Read the directions very carefully and the results can vary, however, in the right environment your rate for a whole colony goes up. I want to say most of not all of the eggs we ended with hatched, all being different sizes, which are adorable. My beta eats these and sits right next to the container so he is consistently eyeing them. But so far so good, they're active, love light, and are hypnotizing. I would like to know where i can obtain water purifier just by itself to a tank cleaning.

Hatched … after 3weeks 😂
They took super long to hatch. I was actually about to pour them out and ask for a refund when I noticed some tiny ones. They were extremely slow to hatch compared to the 24 hrs stated on the package, as well as experiences in the past. Now they’re doing great but something to be aware of lol!

Wet inside egg packet
I bought this because our previous eggs all died due to temperature being too low. The packet of eggs inside this was wet so likely a waste of money. I know they shouldn't be wet.

Eggs never hatched
The sea monkeys never hatched. My son was very upset. I have noticed when I ordered the eggs online they don't hatch.

Follow directions EXACTLY
The media could not be loaded. This was our second attempt at sea Monkeys, and this time we did it! This time we watched some videos on YouTube and looked up tips online before starting, that helps a lot! Things to be sure to do for best chance of sea monkey success:1. Use bottled SPRING or DISTILLED water only, not tap or bottled water that is "purified", "alkaline", or contains any added minerals.2. If you start your sea monkeys in the colder months be sure to have some kind of heat source like an incandescent light bulb to warm the water to approximately 75*-80*. Having the right temp range is important. We used our meat/candy thermometer to make sure that the temp was good in the beginning days especially and had to keep the tank under a light because it was quite cold when we started.3. If you want to use a different container than one of the sea monkey tanks be sure to mix the correct ratio of water with packet #1. 1 packet + 12oz of water. This is the packet that contains the salt and if you add too much or too little water it will not have the correct water to salt ratio. If you are using a bigger container than you will need to have to use more than one packet #1, or add extra (non-iodized) Sea salt, but this is slightly more complicated and would need to be researched for the proper amount.4. Do not overfeed. Follow directions exactly.5. Be sure to aerate your water at least several times a week.Good luck!
