Perfect replacement for comcast cable box
Comcast/Xfinity stores no longer stock these. That's too bad cause all their current remotes they offer are not as good as this one for controlling older comcast cable boxes. This light gray older remote is brand new and works great. Just do a unlock (982) first, then clear all remote settings (981) then program the cable, tv and aux buttons using the remote codes for your devices and your good to go. Lots of links on the web on how to do this. Just Google it.

Excellent replacement controller
Besides the fact we keep misplacing a controller, we decided it would be nice to have controllers on each side of the kitchen (wife sits at the counter) and one at the table. Also a separate controller for each of us in the bedroom means no more waking one of us up to lower the sound or change the channel. Getting one from Comcast is expensive and a long drive and wait in line....getting this one was easy and affordable. Works great with the cable box, tv, and even the vcr (yes, a vcr). Have bought two and may buy a third as a backup. Fast delivery and for free too!! Came with the standard setup guide.

Comcast Replacement Control
The replacement control worked really well, however the rewind button doesn't work all to well. I mean it's functional but the box reads it late and then you can't stop it. The box just get's stuck. I have to power down and then everything works well. Weird.

Works Perfectly- Once You "Unlock" It
Perfect. Thanks to other reviewers, I knew the remote was "locked." I googled for my Comcast Motorola cable box.1. Turn on cable box.2. Press and hold down the "Setup" key on your remote control. The lights on the remote will blink twice.3. Type in the code "981" on your remote control to restore the remote to factory settings. The device key will blink four times.4. Press the "Cable" button on the remote to reconfigure the remote and sync it with your Motorola cable box.5. Press and hold the "Setup" button on the remote until the "Cable" button blinks twice.6. Type in the code "0476" to reprogram the remote to your Motorola cable box.

Did not work with TV - the entire reason I bought them
My original remote, that was nearly eight years old, stopped working with my TV (I did not get a new TV so it was odd that one of my remotes just quit working for no reason while another kept working). My local Comcast store doesn't supply the remote for the old (pre X1) cable box. So, I had to go online to order the remote replacements. The new ones didn't work, either. I spent over an hour on the phone with tech support and they couldn't get them working, either (I bought three). Comcast had to send me universal remotes, which worked perfectly. I had to pay about $10 for shipping on the universals, plus the money I spent on these remotes that failed to work. I would like to return these and get some of my money back.

Came with instructions and worked perfectly!
I bought this here because our remote broke, and going to a Comcast office or having a service tech come to the house wasn't an option that was practical for us. I'm so glad I did! It came with instructions on how to program it to your tv and cable box, and after reading them over, I was able to do it myself in less than ten minutes. I also should add that I am NOT smart when it comes to technology, so the fact that I was able to do this myself in just a few minutes was nothing short of a miracle....

Cable Setup Code Locked
Looks and works fine - as expected. Easily programmed my TV and Blu Ray player, and assumed (wrongly) that the remote would work on the Xfinity cable box without programming. After searching for a few minutes online I found codes to program my cable box, but the remote wouldn't accept the code. A more thorough search revealed that the remote was locked. All told it took an extra 20 minutes or so to get it working right. Not a big deal, but a little annoying. Would have been nice to have this information in the user's guide. Here are the instructions I found that worked for my cable box (an old Scientific Atlanta HD DVR):The remote normally is delivered by Comcast with the Cable setup code locked. You can check that by watching the LED.1) Tap the Cable device button.2) Hold Setup until 2 blinks3) Enter 01877 (SA 8300 uses this setup code)The remote should blink twice. If it doesn't, and instead gives one long flash. then probably the setup code is locked. Unlock it by:Tap the cable device button1) Hold setup until 2 blinks2) Enter 982The remote should blink 4 times. If it blinks 2 times, do steps 1 and 2 again.

A brand new original with full functions
The volume buttons stopped working on our original remote. The one we received from Xfinity was different and would not let us control three different devices (cable, TV, receiver). This replacement functions like the original and works great. Granted, it did not control the cable box at first, but I found codes for that online and voila! we’re back in action.
