not bad!
This system (a425) is OK, especially by now in 2020 it is at least 17 years old? Far better options out there by now for sure, especially what people are asking for "used" prices. Best by the system off an auction site used if you want to pay a decent price as you can get it for $40 to $50. The dell A425 I took apart, the subwoofer is marked 8 ohm @ 20W and the normal speakers 8 ohm @ 5 w, total of 30 w for the system. Normal speakers are 2" circle speakers and the subwoofer 4" circle; all speakers are magnetically shielded. The dell A525 is slightly better rated, but I don't know if its actually better as both units sound OK. The A525 speakers are marked 8 ohm @ 8w and the subwoofer 8 ohms @ 25 w, total of 41 w. The speakers are magnetically shielded as well. You can get a logitech z653 with 200 watts RMS, which is outstanding @ the average $100 to $110 price tag. Also the vizio soundbar lower model sold at walma*T for $95 is a great deal...advertised as 4 speakers, but actually 6 speakers; 2 2.67" speakers, 2 3" speakers and 2 3" subwoofers for a total of 6 speakers...and is awesome once you mess with the bass and treble settings. You wouldn't think the two 3" subwoofers could hit like they do, but they do!

Disappointed
Product does not meet my expectations. I was not aware that I was getting a used item. The speakers have not worked at all, even though I have tried repeatedly to unhook and rehook them back up. I am very disappointed.

If you can find a pair for $30, they are great.
My son is a HiFi enthusiast with very high-end speakers including Magnepan, Wilson Audio, and several DIY builds. This was one of his first speaker systems 15 years ago and he loved them as a youngster, especially for the size & price. Fast-forward many years later, he bought me a used pair on eBay and I used them in the office. Unfortunately, the dog got a hold of the cords and chewed them up. He found another pair abandoned at his Job and was lucky enough to get them for free so we are on our third pair.I really like these speakers and they have a great sound, even in 2021. Sure, they aren't the best or most-accurate, but they have a real fun sound with some "thump" even though the subwoofer is tiny. They get quite loud for a 30w system. They obviously aren't accurate by any means, but they are enjoyable. I primarily listen to Electronic and rock. If you position the satellites on a wide desk, they have a huge soundstage. The sub has a nice kick, but only plays down to about 45 hz before dropping off. That being said, they do sound way better than bluetooth offerings, even upwards of $400, but those are geared for portability and weather-resistance.With all those positives, I wouldn't spend more than $25-$30 on these as there are much better options nowadays. If you can find a pair for free or at a Goodwill/Salvation Army/St. Vincent's for that price and don't mind blowing money equivalent to an hour's worth of work, they are still a viable option in today's market.
