This hose is a Genuine Mr Heater Hose and yes it is Black.I contacted Mr Heater today and i asked about why it was Black and not Green, they representative stated the green ones and some other ones being sold are NOT A GENUINE MR HEATER HOSE.The Genuine is a Black Hose and yes Does Not Need A Filter the one that is being sold here is a Genuine Mr Heater In a Genuine Mr Heater Hose Packaging.So does not need a filter and will not clog up ur Mr Heater. I Asked this as well when i spoke to the Representative.I just got the hose today and have not used it yet, but gave a 5 star rating as if it does as they say then it deserves the 5 star and being a genuine Mr Heater Hose.If you buy a Knock Off hose and your heater gets clogged up and does not work ur warranty will be invalid as its not a Mr Heater Hose Product Made by Mr Heater.

Works great! much better than the 20 year old hose that started leaking propane, which is not good trust me! It was easy to install on the cylinder and the heater, good quality hose and fittings.

When I first received this hose in the mail I immediately opened it and hooked it on up. I checked the connections for leaks, then opened the tank valve and began trying to prime the hose and get the pilot light going. The pilot would work and I would start the main burner. It would ignite but go out after a few seconds. I tried opening the valve more. Then shutting the valve then opening it again. Either I would get a weak pilot light, or it would go out quickly. After some research I discovered this hose has a built in safety mechanism, an over-pressure valve, that either stops or greatly restricts the flow of gas when there is a rush of excess gas flow. So if you open the tank valve too quickly the safety valve will trigger shutting down the hose. So to avoid this, open it slowly. This solved my issue. It is ridiculous that this information wasn't included somewhere on the box.
