Makes great coffee but is a device needed?
The device makes 1.5 liters (50 ounces) of coffee out of 1 pound of coffee grounds in about 24 hours for 25 servings, depending on how strong you like your coffee. There are water level markings giving you the choice of making either 3/4 lb or 1 lb at a time. According to the manufacturer, the filter pad lasts for 14 to 24 brews. You soak the grounds for 12 to 24 hours, then drain the coffee from the grounds (about 1 hour). You have the option to brew again with 16 oz of water for another 12 hours to get the rest of the flavor out of the grounds. Some web sites say that coffee made the cold brew way has about 1/3 less caffeine. The coffee does takes better, noticeably less acidic, but as I look over the device, I can't help but wonder if it is an improvement over just soaking grounds in a bowl and then filtering them through either a coffee filter or cheese cloth. It is rather expensive for what it is. It's rather lightweight plastic but since no heating is done, there really isn't any need for it to be heavier. I suspect the price has to do with lack of economies of scale, there being slim demand for this product.

Efficiency rating: not bad, but not that good
Used only a short time because I didn't like the mess. The plastic carafe threw me but no matter how I loved the dispenser, it was too difficult to keep clean. Regardless of how good the coffee is, the bulkiness of the system wasn't worth it to me. I found I like the Hario Water Brew Coffee Pot much better, which I've been using for a couple years now. It may not 'brew' as much at one time, but it suits me fine.

Brings back memories
In the late 1950's my family received a Filtron Cold Brew Coffee System as a gift Our family enjoyed the coffee extract it makes for a many years. When I went away to school I forgot about the system. Several weeks ago I woke up in the middle of the night and Filtron Coffee passed through my brain. I got up, Googled Filtron and found the system advertised on your site.Ordered the system and have really enjoyed it since I received it. Brings back memories. This 76 year old man is glad he remembered the name Filtron. Good thing coffee doesn't keep me up at night. Thanks,Bob Roth

Just OK
We did not do as well as most with this cold brewing system. Must be our coffee or water. we are going back to the hot brew.

Really great
It is to brew the coffee using this apparatus. The taste is good but you need to put at least 2 ounces of the concentrate into a cup in order to get any flavor. I miss the smell of hot brewing coffee.Follow up: really love this type of coffee! No bitterness. I have trouble drinking regular brew now.

If you switch you may never go back.
What else can I say? I will probably never use a traditional brewer again. This setup is simpler, cheaper (in the long run), easier to use and makes the best tasting coffee ever. I use it with a 100% kona light roast form konaearth.com. Even my wife who is not a coffee drinker loves it because it is so mellow. I always run a second brew from each set of grounds and just use more of the concentrate from that batch and the taste is the same so you can really stretch your coffee dollar that way without compromising quality. There are other cold brewing systems but the best thing about this one is that it comes with the invaluable Tip N Pour dispenser for perfect measuring every time.

WOW
I am simply amazed at the coffee flavor you get with this system, and its so simple. I just bought a $2000. plus expresso machine, and love this just as much. Go figure.
