Coastal Pet Easy Rider Car Harness for Dogs

I originally bought this car harness when it had a soft fleece lining. I can see that the new stiffer design might be better for medium to large dogs, but it is too stiff for a small dog. My dog weighs 11-12 pounds. The xsm which fits perfectly in the fleece lined style, barely fits in the new style because it is so stiff. The small is gigantic. I’m so disappointed because I now can’t find another harness that has the strap to keep him contained in the car and also on a leash or tie out. ☹️

I have an older version of this item. I like the older version better. The newer version has less surface area on the actual strap part that goes on the belly of the dog. Using as it, it pulls our 7lb dog down to the seat, where she has no room to get comfortable. I ended up using a carabiner to give her extra support. With that addition, this item works for my needs.

I own the previous version of this harness in the same "XS" size, but as another reviewer mentioned, the design has been changed, and not for the better in my opinion. The plastic buckle on the original which I purchased at a retail pet store 18 months ago broke, and so I thought I would simply replace it. Not so fast. This new design has much shorter straps, not as much adjustment room, and a MUCH smaller loop for the car seat belt to go through. I had to adjust it to the maximum size (which isn't much different than the minimum - only about 1.5" - and it's still just a bit tight on my 9-pound male Pomeranian. The original fit perfectly with a bit of room to spare. This design also restricts the dog MUCH closer to the seat belt strap in the car, which might be a problem, depending on the size of your dog and the design of your seat belts.

This was not the harness pictured! I ordered what I thought was the fleece lined harness, which is better for small dogs. This has happened to me twice! The product I thought I was ordering was to be the COASTAL PET Easy Rider Harness and I keep getting this generic POS harness that says Easy Rider Car Harness. This stiff design and stiff rounded part at the back of the harness is bigger than my dog! And it scares her! This is crap and I don’t understand why I’m not getting what I ordered!

This is actually my second one. I had the first one for many years and use it all the time and finally needed to be replaced. I didn't even look at others. This harness goes on easily and keeps your dog safe and secure.

I have purchased two of these in the past and was pleased with them. I recently got a third dog and ordered one for him. However, when I received the new one was disappointed with a couple of changes. The first is that they no longer have the "shearling" lining that offered some comfort and padding. The second is the two straps connected to the clip are awkward.

This is perfect for my second schnauzer. I already had one for my other dog. It does not have the fleece lining as pictured and my previous one has, and it is a little stiffer, but I was able to adjust for a great fit! Not only used as a car safety harness but works great as a walking harness.

I don't see anywhere in the product description that this harness does not come with the tether that can be used with the car's seatbelt buckle, so I was surprised when all I received was the harness. I was going to use anyway, however, my car only has shoulder belts and I don't see how a shoulder belt can be drawn through the harness so that the dog is able to adjust position comfortable. I'm very disappointed that I paid to have this product shipped overnight. We are going for a ride today with puppy and this certainly will not work. Returning it.

Product is great! However, I didn't realize it was being shipped from Russia. Long wait, but worth it. Thanks for the 'over and above' service!
