Bad Horse Overdrive. A Mighty Mini!

This pedal was exactly what I was looking for. I’m using a Mesa Mark V 35 and wanted a pedal to push the clean channel to break up and this pedal does exactly that. Also provides a nice kick in the mid range. Don’t let the price fool you; this pedal is the real deal. I’ll be checking out more Tone City pedals in the future.

This is definitely a tube screamer. Sounds pretty good in front of an a.m. if you want to take your drive tones in enhanced him. That’s not really what I was hoping for.

This pedal is a really excellent sounding Klone - I compared it extensively side by side with my EHX Soul Food and they sound virtually identical, but the Bad Horse has a tiny bit less icepick-y harsh treble with things turned all the way up. It's a bit smoother in its gain response, too. It's even got a dual-gang pot for the gain knob even in such a tiny enclosure, so it adds treble as you turn up the gain, just like a Klon.The pedal is true bypass and is built like a tank - with very sturdy and high-quality components even though it's so tiny. And it takes up hardly any space on your board - pedal junkies can add Klon tone without sacrificing board real estate.I really like this pedal. The smallest and one of the best-sounding (and one of the best-priced) Klones out there.

If you’re looking for an affordable alternative to a slight overdriven, klon tone, this is it! It also goes into medium distortion territory but I use it after a wampler euphoria to get John Mayer-esque solo tone. This is my second tone city pedal and they are built very sturdy. Can’t wait for them to release more!

Great pedal for the price

The Bad Horse pedal is awesome. So are most of the other Tone City pedals. This is my third drive pedal from Tone City, and I really love their tones. I find this pedal great is a boost. I stack it into my main overdrives for a heavier, richer sound than they can produce alone.This is a Klon pedal clone. I'm not a klon fanboy. I just thought it sounded good on YouTube reviews, so I decided to try one. Not what I expected, but not disappointing.I use this with a strat and a pedalboard with lots of options to choose from, and it sounds great for a lot of things. I was expecting more drive than it delivers, and when you crank the gain, it doesn't really sound so amazing. It sounded better in the reviews as a standalone pedal, IMO. By itself, it feels like it is too harsh or too muddy, depending on settings, and has a hard time finding that balanced, driven tone I'm after, especially at higher gain. But I'm not using this pedal alone.It works best for me with the drive near the 1/4 or 1/2 setting and the tone dialed in well, and with volume set a bit louder than standard line level. It makes an epic dirty boost like this. It still isn't my favorite standalone drive pedal, but it is my absolute favorite boost pedal to really push my favorite overdrives into... hyperdrive? Megadrive? ... Whatever. It makes good pedals sound way better!This is a pedal that stacks like a dream. You can do anything from country, blues, classic rock, or even metal with this thing. If you use overdrives, this thing blends seamlessly with them as a boost and sounds good no matter what you're playing.I think this pedal will be a part of my sound for years to come. Totally happy with it.
