Not working in two months!!!! Money down the drain!!!
I bought it right before Thanksgiving, and it worked, but I had to have my phone within one foot of the oven to monitor the turkey we were cooking. I used it on a Brisket on December 24 for Christmas. The Meater probe was now having trouble staying connected within close proximity. I should have returned it then, as it didn't connect or work at all on Feb 2, and I am outside the Amazon Jan 31 return date. It has a 1-year warranty according to the Meater.com website, but read this from their disclaimers. "We are unable to issue refunds or accept returns for product(s) purchased from a retail or third-party online store." Amazon should not be selling this product. Read the reviews and look for problems that it will not connect, and the complaint is that you must be very close to the probe with your phone, and that is an understatement. Buy a wired unit and save yourself the disappointment. I tried giving it no stars but you must at least give it a one star to proceed with the review.

Know This before you buy
This is an excellent temperature probe when used properly. I use it whenever I can and it really does yield perfect results! You need to understand that the probe is 3/16" in diameter and must be inserted into the meat 2 5/8". As a result, you'll not be able to use this thermometer with thin meat. Basically, anything less than 1/2" thick won't accept the probe well. And you'll need to be able to insert the probe to a depth of 2 5/8" and have the tip be within an inch of the center so that you are measuring internal temperature. (The temperature sensor is about an inch from the very tip.) Thus, you need to be cooking relatively large pieces of meat. So fish and pork or lamb chops are out.The probe cannot be used under water, so you cannot use it when boiling. The Meater communicates with your phone using bluetooth. This radio wave technology is blocked by solid metal, so you cannot use it within totally enclosed cookers like the big green egg. It works great in my oven because my oven door has a glass window. I have had no problems with communication with my phone within "line of sight" of the probe through the glass in the oven door. I expect that people who have had trouble with their phone loosing connection with the Meater have not kept this in mind. With that said, this item easily earns a 5 star rating. The app is super easy to use, comes with step-by-step training, and provides some very nice graphs of internal and ambient temperature.Regarding the ambient temperature... please note that there is always a dome or bubble of lower temperature air surrounding your uncooked meat. The meat effectively cools the nearby surrounding air. Thus the ambient temperature reported by the probe is significantly less than the oven setting. This is normal and expected.

Don't touch the hot probe and keep you bluetooth within 10' of the probe
This probe is amazing. I got the cheap one to see how long it works and if it worked. Well, I only used it 4 times and it it great. It showed the difference BTW the ambient temp of (for me the air fryer) and the real ambient temp. My air fryer was 15 degrees low. I was cooking chicken for 10 minutes according to everything I looked up on the web and YouTube. That was not good. At 10 minutes the chicken internal was about 110 degrees. Wow! I was eating under-cooked chicken. I set the temp reminder for 164 degrees on the new probe. It took 16 minutes and sometimes 18 at cooking temp at 400 degrees. In order to cook the chicken it is recommended to flip the chicken half way through the cooking cycle. So to do that you have to readjust the probe. I just grabbed it and yes burned my thumb and index finger. So use a mitt or tongs. Hard lesson to learn. Arghh.Easy to clean. Make sure you do it every time. I could see it could get really baked on and hard to clean if you do not every time.If this probe does not last I will follow-up. The reason I gave it a 4 is because you cannot go very from from the probe with you Bluetooth device. It's hard to hear the alarm when you have cooking parties with loud people and music or a game. :-)

No range
Well, this seems to keep a pretty accurate temp. But, at least in my case, I almost have to bake my phone with the probe to keep it "in bluetooth range". Having to leave my phone sitting almost ON the stove is not too helpful. If it had better range, or like I now see they have other models with wifi connectivity, it would be a pretty good product. But it's almost useless as is.
