Good box ... modification idea to optimize storage.
Nice box at a good price. Thick and roomy, good for bushy flies. Not especially great for huge flies, long flies, or flies with lots of rubber legs - they seem to love spilling over the edges and getting smashed by the lid. If you are going with hooks that are larger than size 8 (i.e. size 6, 4, 2, etc.), this might not be the optimum box for you. It seems optimized for 'trout-sized' hooks, size 12-18. Actual dimensions (accurate to 1/16") appear to be, when closed, 6" long X 4" wide X 1 7/8" thick. Note, flies that are longer than 1" will interfere with the next row of flies. (For flies 3" and longer, it will work, but it's not a great box for that.)The foam is pre-cut with little slits. You have the option of using them or just sticking the flies in the foam, however works best (considering hook size, hackle style, legs/no legs, tail/no tail). The number of flies you can fit really depends a lot on these variables just mentioned. The number of slits per row is sort of irrelevant unless you have really tiny flies and can actually use each slit - it gets too crowded otherwise. If you pack them in tight, that's probably ok, you could use your hemostats to pull them out. The box has 25 slits per row X 12 rows total = slits for 300 flies. So the box can hold about 300 very small flies. But again, it really depends on size, hackle style, etc. If you have a bunch of, say, size 8 stimulators, then each row should only hold 7 or 8, which would drop that total to roughly 90 flies.Since it's quite thick, I modified mine by glueing in more strips of foam with crazy glue (I used the Gorilla brand - still need to field test it, but seems secure). You can add up to 10 more rows if you want, just mirroring the existing rows seems to work well. Happy to report that I can close the box with nearly zero crushing. With this modification, I've got 269 trout flies in there, average size 14 or 16 with some down to size 8, with room for a few more. For any beginners, do remember to open it up and let your hooks dry out or else you will have a bunch of nasty rusty hooks within a couple days.

Pretty Handy
It's a pretty handy box. I packed the first one full of popping bugs but most popping bugs are larger than flies and I didn't realise how many I had. It held about eighty, so I ordered another box and it held the balance. As for water resistance that I can't say because they stay in my tackle box and I don't plan to submerge it to find out. It has an o-ring seals so I'm sure they will do fine. They both clamp down tight on each side so it's secure enough for me. Over all rating 4.9, because I finally something to organize over a hundred popping bugs and it's compact. Yes I would recommend it to others and I've already had a friend ask about them. Sure cleared up the mess I had before and opened up space so I'm very pleased. They are worth the money, it's fair price and a good product.

Great fly box!
This is a great box for the money. I have not tested it yet, but it looks like it will be nicely waterproof. The only reason I gave it 4 stars rather than 5 is because it appears that the hinges might be a weak point. I will be taking an extended fishing trip where the box will get sufficient use and abuse to truly rate it fairly and will leave further comments.

Good for the price
This box will get the job done. It isn’t completely waterproof but the storage capacity is awesome.

great box
The only reason I give it 4 stars is that it doesn't have a spot to tie a lanyard or string to hang around the neck or to tie to a vest. Otherwise it is perfect. Compact with high capacity. See through water tight

Very Nice fly box
Very Nice fly box, Good watertight seal, Deep lids offer plenty of breathing room for bigger flies, the hook holder foam has a nice firm density but not so hard as to make hook removal difficult. Recessed trough behind the hook foam offers even more room. Perfect size for buggers, large nymphs and small to medium streamers. . The latches are large and seem to be very secure. The edges of the latches fit closely to the box so the box slips easily in and out of my pockets. They also have a good tensile feel about them. Not too stiff like some others I have used in the past. This size holds all the flies I will every need for a week in Canada. Good buy!

Nice!
Had plenty of room for all the new flies my friend brought me from Montana. The latches are secure and the box is waterproof. The hook slots are sell spaced and the lids are nice and clear for viewing your flies. Also had a nice fast delivery time.
