The Patterns are well written
The patterns are from the past. The Patterns are well written.

I expected to be more...blown away
Older knitting patterns make me happy. Styles that are structured well, and designed well are always welcome in my home. This is not as inspiring as I hoped it would be. If the patterns had been re-knit, then photographed with modern yarns it would have been stellar. I did draw a couple ideas for projects, but they are way back on the burner of my life. The instructions are well written and assume an English knitting style. Since Continental had not come to the US when this was written, I understand that. As a tome of what we did, the photos alone would have been enough. As an inspiration for updating patterns? Maybe I lack imagination. On the other hand, I'm glad it's in my collection. So, I'm a bit conflicted. It's worth it for my Kindle. In paper, I would not have bothered.

bought by mistake.
Unfortunately, I mistakenly ordered this item and the other four crochet related items on Nov.20, 2014, it was too late for to cancel it when I was aware of that.I really do not know how come I have ordered and bought it. I do not need these items.Sorry for such a comment, not related to product but to my mistake, even though this can not be considered as a product view.Sincerely yours.Nov.22, 2014

Wonderful patterns
The patterns are true to the title of the book and very clearly explained. Even as a novice knitter I am having no trouble following the pattern. There is also enough variation within the different shawls that it's worth the cost os a whole book. I plan to make quite a few of the patterns myself!

vintage shawl patterns
I loved this pattern book. Shawls never go out of style, and these vintage patterns are beautiful. Some of the patterns need to be modified slightly, but nothing that can't be done quickly. I'm already working on my gift pile for next Christmas. You will not regret purchasing this book!

Just what I wanted!
This has just the shawls I was looking for and have already started knitting one. I'll check out similar publications.

Quite good
It needed to have clearer instructions. Could have done with some additional up to date instructions. Perhaps in those instructions, language that is universal.

Cute Basic Patterns
A nice collection of vintage shawls that are pretty timeless in their design and patterns seem not too difficult to follow

CONTENT MISSING - DO NOT BUY
I received a sample of this ebook, and loved one of the shawls, so purchased the ebook. Unfortunately the ebook only contains the first few sentences of that particular shawl pattern. I don't know if the others are complete, or not, as I was only interested in one shawl. It staggers me that people will attempt to sell incomplete items through Amazon. Amazon can't be expected to check the content of every single ebook, and it would appear that there are people around who are happy to use this to their advantage, and sell utterly useless "information".It's not an issue about US yarns/needles, as it is easy enough to convert those. It's an issue of missing pattern instructions!

Love the Patterns
I really don't understand why people shy away from needle conversions. You can find charts on the Internet. As for the yarn you can find websites which will help with that too. I am American and I have no problem with conversions of any kind.I love the style of vintage patterns in general. The polka dot stole is plain fun and I haven't seen anything like it in modern books. I also love the elegance. Don' let something like conversions put you off. This is a good collection to add to your pattern library.

Nana the knitter.
I love vintage patterns. But some of the instructions are really old. Haven't figured them out yet.

Lovely
Lovely collection of vintage patterns to inspire and challenge. The needle conversion is no problem as this info is readily available, substituting yarns will not be a big problem for knitters who understand what yarns knit to the tensions and for shawls and stoles not crucial. A great way to get used to vintage and American patterns.
